Meet Haldran, the last and most important member of the Crew! It's not an official sketch page but still a good concept of the whole character, so I decided to post it anyway!
Haldran was the oldest son of the high king of the north, destined to become a ruler after his father's death. He never felt like it would be a good life for him so instead he waived his right to the throne and became a traveling mercenary. His goal was to see the world, become a legendary fighter and have a more exciting life than the one behind the castle walls. His previous life never left him completely though, after he settled in a small forest village on the south (where he met his love, Arnika), he was forced to go back north from time to time, leaving his wife and son (Drakon) behind. One day he promised he'll take them to the nordic lands, when the time is right...
One day he had to travel north again, this time with a good reason - his younger brother who took the throne suddenly died, and not everyone took it as an 'accident'. Haldran never told his family about what happened, and promised to be back soon. After two months, when he finally came back, he saw what was left from the village - ruins burned to the ground with no one left alive - just a few corpses partially swallowed by flames. Completely devastated by what he saw and unable to find his missing family, he came back to his homeland and with the help of his good friend Bernie, he continued on his mercenary job while looking for a new purpose in life. He soon became a leader of the Crew - his new nordic 'family'.
Now some personality traits!
He's an extroverted, optimistic leader and very skilled warrior, loved by the commonfolk. He loves challenges and does everything to make the north a better place for travelers and merchants - thanks to him the small coastal village (he currently resides in) became one of the central hubs and grew into a big town known in the whole region. It's a place where he build his huge tavern and where he and the current crew members live. Although he cares about his people a lot, he doesn't seem to care that much about himself - always in a hurry, busy with planning next expeditions and swords duels with those who challenge him - he often forgets about rest and his own health. His friend Bernard makes sure the Chief is okay and tempers his over excitement over the most dangerous journeys - for Haldran's own good. There's one thing they never get excited enough, and that's the sea serpent hunting season!
