My friend
rackety wanted to see a female poodle who's seen better days. She used to be quite attractive but my goodness has she let herself go. Originally she was supposed to be toothless but there's something about snaggly messed up poodle teeth and lipstick that seemed like a better idea.

I freakin' love this, and I got the movie quote without seeing your comment. I have a love/hate relationship with that movie - I love it but man do I HATE his fake accent. Ha!
This sketch turned out awesome, btw. I feel like you totally captured the essence of the request, and she's sort of... strangely noble in her decay.

Well she's French, they age well like a fine cheese (and from the looks of it she might smell just as ripe) XD Thank you! That movie...it has so much wrong with it but its like Sleepless in Seattle, I can't help myself. Also Kevin Kline is so cute in it, crappy accent or not! It's the eyebrows...or the moustache..hell the whole look.
Nice piece, I liked how you showed through illustration of the cigarette ashes falling into the wine glass, buntings on the feet, frazzled hair, and just general clothing that this lass is pretty down and out so much that she is to a point in life that she simply doesn't care.
I find your chair choice interesting too. Was the style chosen to maintain the focus on the character, as a way to show design, or merely simplicity to prevent the picture becoming crowded and overrun with a bunch of chair legs? Just curious

The chair choice was exactly this: Oh crap I drew this character and I didn't plan out where the chair was going to go! Oh well. Swivel chair it is. XD
I hate drawing furniture or settings but unfortunately this image called for it. I regret that often times in these cases I don't plan them out very well because I get too excited with other areas of the drawing.
Thank you so much! I'm glad those elements came across :)
