I've had a policy for a long time not to make Pokemon OCs unless I had an idea I really felt was fun and original- and for once, I think I finally do.
River Waters Cress, born Chrysanthemum Tisane, aka the "Green Devil", "Beast of Clan Dryad" and "Fool-Queen of the Underworld"
Age ~30
Born to mixed parentage, Cress started life as a largely ordinary Sprigatito. It wasn't until her evolution that her more abnormal traits started to manifest, with her final evolution into Meowscarada producing mutations simultaneously drastic, yet subtle.
Foremost among these traits are her "trick vines", a number of vine-like prehensile appendages mutated from the "bomb-flower" tendrils common to the species. Much like the original tendrils, these vine-limbs possess an innate form of optical camouflage using specialized hairs on their surface. The illusion of invisibility is virtually flawless, functioning regardless of movement or lighting conditions.
What makes these "trick vines" unusual is not just their incredible strength, but their bizarre carnivorous adaptations. The flower at the end of each vine, typically concealed within a "bud" of camouflaged leaves, serve as a secondary, hidden means of food intake. A combination of a sticky, sundew-like glue trap and a swift snap-trap, these flowers are able to quickly engulf live prey significantly larger than Cress herself. Unlike a true carnivorous plant, these "vine-maws" are unable to digest what they catch; instead, an esophagus-like channel through each vine leads directly into Cress' extraordinarily stretchy stomach.
The tendrils are quite sensitive. While Cress can exert precise conscious control over them, doing so takes a great deal of concentration on her part, and as such they are usually managed by subconscious, instinctual processes and muscle memory. This trait can be both a blessing and a curse; while it allows the vines to automatically perform simple tasks or instinctually defend against surprise attacks, it can also lead to them striking, constricting or consuming things of their own accord, a fact that makes it very difficult for her to maintain a normal life.
This difficulty is compounded by a series of neurochemical anomalies that accompany her abnormal digestive system; Cress is possessed of a boundless appetite, experiencing a near-perpetual state of hunger. Even worse, her peculiar biology is not satisfied by typical forms of nourishment- while "normal" food can somewhat dull the sensation, only consuming live prey can cause her hunger to abate for any length of time.
This unnatural hunger seems to have a "preference" for other sapient creatures, being more satisfied by them than any other form of nourishment. Seemingly, the meal being sapient is a more important condition, even, than the meal being conventionally "edible" at all. A Klingklang, despite being made entirely of metal, is more satisfying to this dark urge than a bag of potatoes.
These psychological abnormalities don't end there- in addition to her hunger, Cress suffers from a mental block regarding her trick vines that prevents her from openly acknowledging their existence, even if she wishes to, a quirk that seems to exist in order to facilitate her ecological role as an ambush predator.
Cress' abnormalities have forced her into the lifestyle of an itinerant performer, traveling between settlements while consuming whomever she can get away with before moving on as soon as suspicions begin to mount. Despite her solitary life and desire to remain inconspicuous, however, she has managed to develop a substantial reputation in the criminal underworld. Her mutant abilities being both exceptionally strong and quite mysterious, coupled with the characteristic poker-face and dramatic aura of a Meowscarada has led many villains to see her as a dangerous loner- a dark horse with no allegiances and unknown motives.
For her part, absolutely none of this reputation was garnered deliberately. In fact, Cress' grandiose titles and considerable record of villainous achievements have all come about entirely by accident or coincidence, and despite having little interest in power or profit, pure dumb luck has constantly put her in more and more favorable situations, to the point where she is thought by many to be the most brilliant criminal mind on the continent.
...TLDR, she has invisible tentacles she can eat you with, is cursed with a compulsive need to vore people and everyone constantly mistakes her for a big bad supervillain even though she just wants to eat and keep her head down.
