This is Pepperino/pepper/pep. She's an australian sheperd i just adopted, female age 4. Brought her home last night 7/1/11

i started training her last night.one of her other owners used to lock her up in the kennel so that she wouldnt have to deal with her, my friend tabby told me. so peppers afraid of being in a kennel, which is bad cause i will need her to be in one while im away and all. Mike tried to force her in but she refused, i informed him that she was afraid but waited til he gave up and left the livingroom.
I grabed some kibble and showed her that i was putting it inside the kennel. at first she didnt want to go in, i didnt force her, she went in wen the lure of the food was irrisistable, then ran back out. it took a few minutes for her to realize that i wasnt going to slam the door behind her. so she ate the kibble happily. i decided that she was comfortable enough to continue, so i made her come to me then i placed kibble in the kennel and said the cammand "go to bed" while i made a hand motion, she went inside the kennel. i did this a few more times before shutting the door. i sat by the kennel for a while tossing kibble in the kennel now and then so that she would feel ok about being in it with the door shut. after i opened it and did the cammand a few times again, now she will go in wen i tell her and wont freak out.
i left her in the kennel for an hour at a time while i watched tv in the same room, then i let her out for a while. im happy she seems ok with the kennel in just one days training. she slept in it last night and didnt cry or bark or anything =) im continueing the kennel training today. i also like to add a few old tricks i taught her with Tabbys help while pepper was still at tabbys house, just so that the tricks arent forgotten or something. =)
I got her an extra large kennel so that she can move around and stretch. i get sad seeing dogs who have kennels were they cant even stand up properly. =(

i was a lil worried about owning a dog that is only my own, but so far so good, i havent had any problems with her except one. Shes somehow fallen out of the potty schedule she had when she was at Tabby's. She used to go at 7am, 4-5 pm and 10pm. But last night i took her out and she wouldnt go, so we went back inside. she didnt go til about midnight. This morning she didnt go at 7 am either, and its 11:37 am now. She hasnt showed signs of even thinking of going. hopefully she will last until around 4pm so i can try and get her back on her potty schedule, it will make it easier when i have to be at work.
Anyways i will keep posting about her in case u want to know how we're doing ^_^
