"The Gargoyle was a strange creature, she spoke very little initially and when she did it was in the language of the beasts. Our interactions were informal, often it seemed like I was in her way, a brief moment of eye contact before walking past me like I was an infant.
She knew I was following her, she wouldn't often look for me, but if she ever did. She'd look straight at me no matter how hidden, far or obscured I was.. if she wanted me gone I would be..

It became clear she was not a friend of man nor beast. She traveled alone off beaten paths, often skulking about villages that have already been ravaged by others of her monstrous-kin. It was odd, she didn't seem to be hunting to prey on humans like others of her ilk..

Eventually, she stopped walking, and stood still for minutes.. She turned to stare at me again and lifted her hands. She was too far to hear her, but echoing in my mind I heard her voice..
The world spun away into darkness, there was nothing else but this creature that had been my fixation for weeks.. surely I was hallucinating or had devolved into some sort of mania.
Without knowing it, I was before her. Everything melted away into the void beyond her frame as I was overwhelmed.

I awoke face down in the dirt."
