Top Break Vs Hunting Revolver
"Not a common find in the wasteland, packing the potent .308 round used in hunting rifles, this hand cannon will not lack in the firepower department. Just be sure you can handle the recoil, can be repaired with .44 revolver, pipe revolvers, single action revolvers". - Gerik Goldstone.
Being the First machine-milled revolver in Gerik's arsenal, arriving at the gun market in 2080, first made to combat the ever quickly growing in size rad toads as well as the Yao Guai becoming more common in the wooded regions where Gerik dwelled northeast of Flatwoods, Giving the survivors the ability to have the power of the .308 slinging hunting rifle in the palm of their hands, this filled that itch. At first, the Revolver was given to hunters to keep the mutated animals away from the towns. when a functional settlement was finally formed around 2083 in Charlestown, Gerik got his first commission contract with the town of Charlestown. Producing 56 out of his 750 Contract, the Christmas Flood would wash away his shop as well as a majority of the newly formed settlement. barely surviving, Gerik would make his shop mobile, continuing his work even after the commissioners were no longer among the living.
Moving to just outside of Vault 76, Gerik would continue to make more of the revolvers. Trading them for supplies as well as food and pay, if the survivors had any to give. By 2090, the commission is adopted by the Responders, becoming a signature weapon of the fire breathers. By 2097, demand for the Top break would be at an all-time high. However, most of the clients would be infected and turn to Scorched or flee north to the D.C. ruins. Weapons would be put in the hands of raiders, wastelanders, and ex-soldiers while defending their homes and communities against the scorched. Having all the communities destroyed and fallen to the scorched, production was put on pause while "recollecting" was commenced by the maker.
In 2103, being "Conscripted" into the enclave, the Production and use of the Top Break would be used by the Enclave to combat the Scorched Plague problem, and the makers' shop would be put in full operation again. However, when the final battle kicked off with the Enclave and the Scorched, during the catastrophic event taking center stage, the Gunmaker would slip away in the chaos. Grabbing as many of his made revolvers off the dead or unshipped to the frontlines, he fled the Appalachian area toward D.C where his ghoul breatharian had fled years beforehand, trading the revolver for supplies and food.
By 2190, most of the revolvers had been used as bartering chips for goods and services, being spread all over the wastelands, being used by both lawmen and outlaws, as well as the NCR heavy units and trench raiders in later years. Years after the production ended in 2120, the Top Break is sought after for its simple but rugged design and moderately high durability. Desert Rangers would take one of the revolvers for 20 years of service before retirement. however, given the rarity of only 750 being made and the Gun maker no longer present, the NCR would opt for another, more available revolver, the Hunting Revolver. If you find a Goldstone Top Break, it is a revolver that has been through almost every major event that has happened in post-war America, a true history piece for one's collection, Most are found on bandits or lockers gathering dust in a settlement's museum or weapons reserves. but a real treat if you can get your hands on a piece of wasteland history.
