The Great Wolf Lodge came into view. Remy had promised Scott that he would come back up to Spirit Water Forest. Remy's parents decided to come along this time.
The two cars parked and the families greeted one another.
Remy and Scott were excited to be back up in the forest.
"Where's Oliver?" asked Remy.
"He should be here, with the rest of the pack." said Scott.
The two friends headed towards the lodge.
"Oliver's probably waiting for us," said Remy. "We can check over--"
"Hey, you two!" Scott's father, Lloyd, called.
"Oh, right," said Scott. "Let's help with the bags."
After unloading the cars, the two families made for the lodge.
"It's gorgeous up here," said Mrs. Fox. "I can't wait to hike through the area."
At the front entrance, Remy and Scott spotted Oliver Raccoon. Wiley Wolf, Violet Wolf (no relation), Brinley Bear and Sammy Squirrel were there with him.
Oliver approached them with a smile. "Scott," he cried, "I am ecstatic over your return to Spirit Water Forest! Salutations, Remy."
Scott laughed. "Happy to see you again too, Oliver."
"We all are," said Violet.
"Sammy squealed. "Welcome back, Remy!"
She gave him a big hug.
Remy could hardly breathe. "Y-you too, S-Sammy."
The stones on their wrists began to glow.
"You guys go ahead and get unpacked," said Wiley. "We've got some things to do."
The pack howled in unison and ran off into the woods.
"I say we follow them." said Scott.
Remy nodded. "Agreed."
He turned to his parents. "Mom, Dad, Scott and I are going to check something out, we'll be right back."
"Don't be too long," said Mr. Fox.
Remy and Scott took off in pursuit of Oliver and the rest of the pack.
They followed them into the forest where they found a dark cave.
They hesitated.
"Should we?" asked Remy.
Scott nodded. "We must."
He took Remy's hand and the two friends slowly entered.
Remy gasped. "Wow," he whispered.
The cave was illuminated by hundreds of glowing orbs. They saw large rocks with ancient carvings and pictographs carved into them. They too seemed to glow.
There was more light coming in from the cave. They turned left to find a colossal wolf carved from stone. And, standing before it, was the Great Wolf Pack.
Remy and Scott stared in awe at the enormous monolith that towered before them.
"That is amazing," whispered Scott.
The Pack stood in the center of a large geyser right in front of the wolf. They were all looking up to see a small, blue-green figure floating in the air. It carried a large spoon in its tiny hand.
"Oh," it said. "Looks like we have company."
The pack turned to see Remy and Scott standing nearby.
"What are you doing here?" asked Violet. "You two shouldn't be here!"
Wiley sighed. "Looks like our secret's out."
The floating figure laughed. "Oh, I wouldn't worry. I can tell the mean no harm."
She beckoned them over with her spoon. "Come over here, you two."
Remy and Scott looked at one another and slowly approached.
"Hello," said Remy. "Who, or what are you?"
"I am Cascade, the water faerie."
Scott's jaw dropped. "Did you say faerie?!"
Cascade laughed. "I sure did."
She tapped his head with her spoon. "Scott."
She flew towards Remy and tapped his head too.
"Remy."
Remy was perplexed. "How did you know our names?"
"I am the messenger and helper of the Great Wolf Spirit."
"What we do," said Brinley is head out to help those in the forest when needed."
"And we embark on so many fun adventures!" cried Sammy.
"In times of trouble," said Cascade, "the Great Wolf Spirit looks for a pack of noble, helpful, friendly, caring, friendly friends who are kind, true, adventurous and brave."
"That's us!" cried Remy. "We are helpful, caring and brave."
Scott smiled and nodded. "He's right."
"I can tell you are," said Cascade. "And I have trust in you two."
"We promise not to tell anyone," said Remy.
Cascade waved her spoon and jets of water snaked around the two friends.
"Hey," said Remy, "that tickles!"
"The Great Wolf Spirit has seen your honesty and spirit of adventure. He trusts you both."
"That's great," said Scott.
"Come back later," said Cascade. "The Great Wolf Spirit will decide if he needs your assistance."
"Go head back," said Wiley. "We'll see you guys later tonight."
Remy and Scott returned to the lodge safely.
That evening the met with the Great Wolf Pack for the Fourth of July festivities.
They apologized for following them and discovering their secret. The Pack, however, was forgiving and understanding.
When the fireworks started, they all raised their heads and howled for their freedom.
