Finally finished a reference sheet for my character Elara. An OC for Magic The Gathering!
Owlin (Barking Owl Variant) - 23 - She/Her
Elara signed up to Strixhaven to better herself at magic and explore deeper education. Finding the right place for her was hard, she was torn between where to go, the call of Prismari and its self expression was strong, and she heavily considered delving into it like her parents. Self expression like that, she found too embarrassing.
Lucky for her the call of knowledge rang loudest to he, its what she enjoyed doing most in the school. Studying long lost information and even assisting in the translation of old tombs to bring to light lost information.
She preferred that over going out to ruins and dungeons. That all felt rather dangerous. But as a competent caster she of course went along. Aiding in keeping others safe with her defensive spells, or aiding with her knowledge of things that should be lost.
Her best friend, a Leonin by the name of Sivasta being the one to draw her from her shell more than most. Giving her the motivation she needed to explore out of her comfort zones.
When in the college she dutifully attends her classes, or gets lost reading in the vast libraries. When delving dungeons or ancient ruins she can be found deeply studying everything. Documenting what she can to bring back and further study. For knowledge of all kinds is the mightiest weapon of all.
She generally knowing defensive spells but that doesn't mean she can't still do you harm when push comes to shove.
Elara met her friend Sivasta after reading some stuff she probably shouldn't and got sent to detention. From there further trouble was caused. What happens when you put an endlessly curious owlin and a troublemaker leonin in the same room? Perhaps they read find a certain spell. A spell of untold power. The power to meld two into one.
The two spent a not so insignificant amount of time merged together as a Gryphon. Something that has a time limit, the longer the two spent together the more their minds started to muddle and merge. Elara came out of the encounter craving more adventure, and Sivasta came out of it enjoying studying more.

I love the lore! Theres a LOT of it and reading it just off of wikis and stuff makes it much harder. But I still adore it. There's a lot about it thats just a lot of fun and I am eager to explore it.
I really want to tell stories with her some day. Much like many of my characters. I just love it.
