Fanart - Princess Luna
Another art piece for Ponycon Holland <3
Luna was incredibly challenging to paint, her colouration was surprisingly tricky to get down! Even went and got a brand new tube of watercolour to aid me in being able to get her colour down (Van Gogh 533 indigo). Only once I let go of the need to perfectly mimic her show colours did I start having fun with painting her :')
Troubles aside, her tail and mane were very fun to paint, and I learned a lot working on this piece :) For those curious, I got the black of her cutiemark and collar by using Indian ink, and then going over top with colour pencil.
I do think that, once I've run out of them, I'm not going back to Terschelling Schut watercolour paper - even at 300g/m2, they warp too much when working with very wet watercolours - need at least a bit o' cotton in there (my current faves are Baohong cotton watercolour paper and Hahnemühle, can recommend).
I've been having a lot of fun practicing drawing equines, as well as practicing bird wings for the pegasi and alicorns <3 Looking forward to doing it more <3
Prints of this art as well as the original will be available for purchase at Ponycon Holland next weekend, as well as possibly at future conventions I vendor at (if they permit fanart).
