General info:
Species name: Impidimp
Species #: 859
Gender ratio: 100% Male
Species Type: Dark / Fairy
Status: Least concern / Very Common
Different breeds / Subspecies possible?:
-At least 6 known subspecies
Appearance:
Impidimp are bizarre little beings, if for no other reason than their scrawny limbs and almost human-like appearance. They're small creatures with pink, fleshy bodies covered in tiny hairs that feel rather rough to the touch.
They have sharp fangs, and long purple tongues that they use to lap up tree sap and Vespiquen honey. Their hands and feet end in hardened nails that form hooves, and a pair of webbed wings sprout from the backs of their heads.
It's unknown what these wings are for, as Impidimp are certainly incapable of flight.
Biology:
With flimsy, fragile limbs, these tiny little gremlins may appear like wimpy weaklings... And they are.
At least physically!
With the physical strength of a small toddler, there's little chance you'd need to be worried about being knocked out from a punch from one of these little guys. But their special attacks are a bit of a different story.
Though still quite weak, compared to most others, an Impidimp that has carefully honed its special skills can do quite a bit of damage with a well-placed Dark Pulse attack.
Diet:
Impidimp are more commonly known for their devious and antagonizing behavior. They love to make nuisances of themselves to other people and Pokémon, and immediately running away while giggling gleefully at the messes they've made. Leading to many to think of them as cowardly and stupid.
But this couldn't be any further from the truth, as in reality, these creatures are actually feeding themselves the entire time.
Though entirely capable of eating berries and Pokémon food like any other, the bulk of a wild Impidimp's diet normally consists of negative energy, and the most delicious of all being the feelings of frustration. So what better way to obtain frustration energy than to pester and annoy the other locals?
Health:
An Impidimp's fangs need to be worn down often, as will they continue to grow. The fangs will grow about one inch every week, and if not properly worn down, the fangs will lengthen and curve exponentially, which can cause some discomfort to the Pokémon through infections.
In the wild, gnawing on wood and bones is how they typically remedy this issue, but Impidimp under the care of trainers can simply take a quick trip to a Pokémon Center to have Nurse Joy professionally file them down with little to no discomfort.
Temperament and Human Interaction:
Impidimp aren't exactly the most popular of Pokémon for trainers, thanks to their mischievous and crude natures. Especially since for the most part, their crude trickery is often needed simply for the Pokémon to survive.
Most people prefer to catch its evolved forms, Morgrem and Grimmsnarl, as they seemingly no longer need to feed primarily on negative energy and instead can thrive purely off of physical solid food.
But this isn't to say that Impidimp aren't completely untrainable.
Every Pokémon is different in terms of personality, of course. And though slightly more uncommon, it's quite possible to encounter one that is significantly timid in nature to an almost unusual degree, and therefor much easier to handle.
It's been noted that these specific kinds of Impidimp don't seem particularly interested in negative energy at all, and instead prefer solid foods, and even stranger...positive energy. Specifically, the feelings of love and kindness.
Peculiar still, these types of Impidimp tend to be slightly larger and with paler colors, and when fully-evolved, it's noted that the Grimmsnarl forms of these individuals are much more gentle, and will have red skin and bodies covered in hair with a pinkish hue instead of the usual solid black.
Researchers have come to the conclusion that this is an entirely separate breed of the Impidimp line, officially dubbed as either the Lover's Breed or Valentine's Breed, thanks to it's much softer appearance and loving nature.
