in kitsune society there exists two types of fox spirits, the benevolent zenko and malevolent nogitsune.
While the latter may be the more dangerous type, they are also the weaker of the two due to malice stunting their ability to grow. Normally this would incentivise them to slowly see the error of their ways, but for a select few foxes even this proves incredibly unlikely to sway them.
to keep such individuals from becoming a problem for both mortal and yokai alike, a new onmyōdō ritual was proposed by the counsel of kūko to bring these petulant kitsune down a peg, one that any aspiring onmyoji could perform to adopt one of these childish foxes as a newborn baby as they rehabilitate them.
