Euro’s preferred type of car has always been an estate (station wagon). But when you go global, you think local, so when Euro flew to Sweden, his car of choice to drive around in was the Volvo V90. Sensible, practical, solid, understated, safe, but still very stylish, it makes for a very fine ride.

This was another entry in my “European countries” series, and the architecture and background of this picture is based a lot on the area outside the hotel I actually stayed at when I was in Sweden for the first time. I would have loved to have spent another day in Stockholm, but I am glad I did go back to Sweden a few years later, though it was to Malmo.

I will say that as much as I like my Mercedes wagons (along with the Jaguar XF Sportbrake), if I had to choose a brand of luxury vehicle to buy and own, it would probably be a Volvo. Nice cars but they’re the sort of car where you want to show you have good taste but in a much more restrained way.
