I Quit as a Building Manager
Here's a DOOZY of a story to share, and it happened to me, recently.
Monday Nov. 17:
DeVoe: Hi Christ this is DeVoe. I am sending unit 1 $800. If you can, you can help me pay him like $40 or $50, but I'm giving him a $100 right now.
Me: Hello. I wish I could, but I don't have any money myself. I'll see what I can do.
DeVoe: Ok I'm sending him a hundred dollars but let me know who you can do.
Me: I just sent my last $40
DeVoe: Happy over there Friday to give you $200. I will be over there Friday to give you $200.
Me: What time? Because I'll be at funeral from 10 am to 2 pm.
DeVoe: I will be over there Friday to give you $200, but we have to talk. I could come after 2. As a better manager, sometimes a building manager have to help out in step up. If the owner does not have anything, it's up to the building manager to step up. That's a part of your job. Sometimes you do have to keep money on you or in the bank so if you need to pay someone for doing a job. That is one pic to step up being a building manager. I hope you understand where I'm coming from. Hi, did you get my text?

Wednesday Nov. 19:
DeVoe: Good afternoon in Christ, do you have any money on you today? If not, it's okay.
Me: Hey there. No I don't have any money right now.
DeVoe: Okay when you get something let help Kimble I sent him a hundred already u just can send him $40 or 50 thank you.
Me: I've just sent him $50.
DeVoe: If you only had that you did not have to send it.
Me: I've already sent it, so it's okay.
Devoe: Know it is not okay I feel bad for asking you. I won't ask you no more to help.
Me:It's alright, I'll be fine.
Devoe: I messed up on my text you are good.
Me: Oh, okay.
Devoe: You do not have to text nobody else.
Me: Okay.
Devoe: This DeVoe. I'm keeping record of all day This.
Me: Okay.
Devoe: My wife do not have nothing to do with this I am the owner now her.
Me: Yes sir. I understand.
Devoe: But I won't ask you to help out no more.
Me: I understand.
Friday Nov. 21st:
Devoe: I will see you today but one more time can you please send kimble $40 if not it's ok sir.
Me: Okay. Sure thing. Sent.
Devoe: Okay thanks.
Me: You're welcome.
Devoe: You send it to him. But I'm Will giving you $300.
Me: Okay. Please forgive me, I'm still at a funeral service right now. So I apologize for not replying back faster. Okay, I'm on my way back home right now.
Devoe: Okay.
Me: I made it home. I've sent the money to him.
Devoe: I m going to be giving you $300.
Me:Okay. Sounds good.My apologies. My CashApp is $BigBirdyPlaysGames.
Saturday Nov. 22nd:
Devoe: Good morning how are you doing sir I am about to be over there in a hour to give you your money but do me a favor send kimble like $30 or $40. Hi there do you get my message
Me: Hello. Sorry, I'm fresh out of money. I gave the last cash to someone else. I just got your message. I'll see you then.
Devoe: Or do you get 10 or 20 dollars you can see him.
Me:I'll try to ask somebody.
Devoe: Okay. Because I do not have cash app. It may take a while. Hy sir are you working on it
Me: I am, and still nothing.
Devoe: Hi nothing yet
Me: Hello. I've gotten someone. It's taking a while.
Devoe: Okay
Me: Okay. I got $20, and I'm sending it to him right now.
Devoe: Okay and I'll be over there like at 2:00
Me: I won't be here at 2:00. I'll be over at another church for a fundraiser.
Devoe: And let me know what time you get out of your funeral because I got to come over there because I'm giving unit 9 a notice because he is not following the rules
Me: Okay. I'll let you know what time I get out of the fundraiser. Hello. This is Christ. I just got out of the fundraiser and I'm about to head home.
Devoe: Okay
Me: Okay, I've made it home. Hi. Did you get my text?
Devoe:Yes
Me: Okay.
Thursday Nov. 27th:
Me: Hello, this is Christ. Just got a complaint from a tenant, Unit 9. Someone spilled some sticky stuff on his home floor, and he wants to know who it was on camera.
Devoe: He just told me in don't believe him his cousin did that didn't nobody spell nothing on the floor
Me: Okay.
Tuesday Dec. 2nd:
Me: Good morning. This is Christ. Just texting to ask you that we need rock salt for the snow.
Devoe: We should have some salt over there
Me: Sounds good. I'll see you then.
Devoe: No I said it should be some salt in the building
Me: We don't have any rock salt. In the building.
Devoe: Hi sir it's your job as a building manager to get stuff like that in to help pay unit 1 we need you to step up
Me: I need to meet with someone face to face to discuss the requirements of this position. I was never told the requirements of this position, and I need to determine if I cannot meet these requirements, I need to return to becoming a regular tenant again.
Devoe: You are listening to unit 11 you are the building manager if you can't handle the job I will have somebody else to do it
Me: That would be fine, and thank you for the opportunity that you gave me.
Devoe: Because you are listening to a unit 11 that's your job is to do that as a building manager. As a building manager that is your job you listening to unit 11 and he telling you the wrong things I'll be looking at it on camera.
Devoe: Hello?
Devoe: Hello are you there?
Devoe: This is Devo wife I am very disappointed in you you supposed to take this job serious you listening to James and he do not know what he is talking about.
Wednesday Dec. 3rd:
Devoe: Hello, did you get my text?
Devoe: Hello sir.
Devoe: I've been trying to talk to you you've been annoying my text it is not good for business.
Devoe: Hello can you talk?
Devoe: I know you see me been texting you sir you have not been responding
Thursday Dec. 4th (Today)
Devoe: Good morning why are you not responding to me sir I need for you to respond back I do not conduct business like this.
Me: I received the texts, and as I've stated before I appreciate the opportunity that you have given me, but there's no need for me to respond to the negative comments you were saying about me.
Devoe: All I was telling you is that there's more to being a billing manager it's your job if you need ice you can buy it sometimes if we not around it shows up to collect the rent that's a better manager responsibility to help out you are like the second landlord it show responsibility you can pick people out
the building.
Devoe: That's a building manager responsibilities you do not understand that but you listening to James and James do not know where he talking about.
Me: You can put those comments about James to rest, because I am my own man.
Devoe: Okay but I'm still your landlord and do not disrespect me like that I am just telling you your job description.
Me: Sorry wrong text.
Devoe: Please stop texting my wife because I am the owner.
Me: Thank you sir. I appreciate that so much.
Devoe: Good afternoon this is Jolene devoe wife whatever my husband say he is telling you right you the building manager that's your child to step up and stuff need to get done you do not have to call us it's your job.
Me: Good afternoon, Madam Jolene. This is Christ, and I would like to resign as the building manager of the place I'm living in, and I would like to be a regular tenant again.
Devoe: Fine with us because you do not disrespect my husband like that and plus we looking at the camera and James is telling you stuff but to say you listening to him it's going to get you in trouble and he did not say nothing to you out of pocket you started going off first because it's your job has been a manager to buy some salt and that's us
Devoe: You went off on my husband first I am looking at the text you are wrong for that you call yourself a Christian man but going on a person.

The wife wanted me to patch things up with her husband because I "disrespected" him. I told her I appreciate that, but declined. I already told them that resigned as a building manager. She told me that next month I'll be paying the full amount of rent. Then I thanked and blessed her and her husband.
