Those that are seen as an interesting fit to Phillip Lane's plans are made to be his loyal bodyguards and henchmen through the power of the Dragon Ruby. Since Jed knew Phillip prior to obtaining the ruby, he was Phillip's first choice for a proper henchman. At first his curse wasn't as noticeable due to the whole town being enchanted by Phillip's power, but as his power surfaces, his human body began to changes too. From a normally healthy man to a sickly individual with his hair and skin falling off with scales taking their place. Despite the change, Jed was becoming far stronger than his feeble human self.

By the time Edward and Kiyoshi entered the arcade searching for Phillip, Jed Gatorman was at the final stages of his accursed mutation, becoming a literal gatorman. Sensing that Jed's energy had remnants of the Ruby's power, both Edward and Kiyoshi demanded answers from him. But the only two things the two got from Jed were feral snarls and death threats as the gatorman attacks Edward. Kiyoshi jumped out of the way, while Edward barely manage to dodge his punch. The impact was strong enough to smash an arcade cabinet and fling it into the air!

"HEY! That was a Project SHIFT arcade cab you just smashed, ya asshole! Do you know how RARE those cabs are!?"

Edward fought many thugs and people under Phillip's enchantment... But never in his life did he ever fought an actual Beastman!!
