Backstory:
The screams of her tribe still haunt her dreams, memories of the day when HE came with his cruel laughter, and his terrible yellow beams. Most of her tribe had been slaughtered that day and those left were enslaved. But Marissa wasn't content to give in to despair. Despite their oppressor’s vast power and overwhelming physical size, Marissa was determined to band her once proud people together and win back their planet.

It took the better part of a year, many nights of sneaking through the darkness, preparing the plan that would topple the yellow giant's reign of terror. During that time they learned that his frightening powers came from a ring he wore on a finger of his right hand. One night, after drugging his food, they worked silently while the tyrant slept. Marissa and her people bound him to his bed with hundreds of ropes, once secured they proceeded to hack off his hand! The enraged giant roared in pain and began frantically tearing away the ropes that bound him. Seeing their last chance for freedom rapidly slipping away, Marissa desperately dragged the severed hand to the smelting pit she and her people had been forced to slave over and cast it with the ring into the molten metal. With his source of power taken away, the wounded giant was easily driven from the planet by thousands of his former slaves. Marissa and her people began to rebuild their lives and things were getting back to normal when another strange being came to their world. The visitor came in peace, calling himself a "Guardian" and wished to meet the one responsible for the Yellow tyrant's defeat. He offered Marissa an opportunity...

"Marissa Shamrock of Midge, you have the ability to overcome great fear. I would like to present you with this..."

In his palm lay a tiny ring and what appeared to be a lantern. Upon laying her hands upon these items, she was filled with the knowledge of what they were and what they were for. Her eyes flashed with the same light they possessed while leading her people to freedom and she slid the ring around her wrist as she set the lantern on the ground. She pointed the ring at the lantern, and as the words came to her lips the lantern and ring began to glow with a brilliant green light!
