It's distracting on the left, and I can't focus on the body. What you need to do is fade that inward (10 - 20 pixels), and still have a slight fade on the outside as well (3-4 pixels). Also tint it to the color undergoing specular reflection and perhaps even merge it to a sheen. Of course we're talking about reflection on a complex surface (fur strands) so that will fade off slowly because you'll still have a couple hairs nearer the viewer that might catch some light (like cirrus clouds at dusk).
Be sure to use this opportunity to fade it in and out to convey the radius of the body part, and perhaps with a touch of bloom.

Left one looks backlit, as if you had a hair light or something. Something that can have excellent effects in cinema, as it helps filter out subject from background. Classic photographic technique transferred to painting. I like it, but it is a look that does look very "studio", if you know what I mean. The right one feels more "real", as it were. My two cents.
uhm, both are very interesting concepts. Personally, i prefer the right. The sketchy lines do make her stand out a little. Though, I do like the shading on the left since its more fluid and seems more refined. The highlights are definitely a pleasant touch, but a little too much. I would try fading it in a little.
Why not try and put these together in one?
Other than that.. fantastic as always. You've come a long way, and improving amazingly well ;)

I haven't been on here in a while either so don't worry.
I like both of them but I think the left one would pop out more if you changed the color of the background slightly. The way it is, everything seems like it's blending together. Maybe make the background a little lighter or possibly a different hue?
The right one looks fine because the outline makes distinguishes her from the background.
All in all your doing great. And listen to Foxer421, he knows what he's talking about.
Nice to see your work again!
