Posting two pages this week because next Monday I have a feeling I will not have time to BREATHE. So, yeah. Enjoy. Just don't expect an upload next week.
Red Lantern Volume 1 is now available for purchase! It covers all 95 pages, including those never before posted online! Check it out here:

It's worth mentioning at this point that all the pages posted from here to page 95 were completed over *six months ago*, and the book has already gone to print. So while you're certainly welcome to make artistic suggestions, we are well past the point where we are able to make any changes. Critique my current artwork if you'd like to be productive. Thank you.
Our website is at: http://www.rukiscroax.com/redlantern/

A command rank is basically the point in the military where you gain the authority to command other troops. To make a long and EXTREMELY boring explanation short...its an officer's rank. Which means when Luther got married, his rank pretty much skyrocketed. But if that's the case, then he must have had some serious military history, something preventing him from gaining his command. I dunno...
I wouldn't doubt it. I've heard plenty of cases in the military where the top brass became aware of an officers views/sexuality, and BAM...there goes that promotion, or you get reassigned to the WORST places. Its not rare in the military to be singled out just because you like smooching a guy. It doesn't fit with what NORMAL people deem acceptable...cause lets face it, the GAY BATTLECRUISER COMMANDER clearly can't perform his job as well as the STRAIGHT BATTLECRUISER COMMANDER. But hey...that shit happens.
*sets it aside* As much as i'd LOVE to assassinate a pretentious admiral...that sort of thing only makes the issue worse, though i hate to admit that. There's not really much you can do when people with power decide they just don't like you. Complaining to others with similar power rarely helps, because they usually turn on you in the end after deciding "you know, the big guy was right...that kid IS a faggot." So...that's pretty much one of many reasons why i despise the military, despite nearly serving myself.
Hmm im terribly curious to find out more about the politics and culture of these places. Like what is this treaty with Amuresca the slavers keep referring to? Oftentimes it seems that treaty is the only thing keeping the slavers from careening into depraved brutality. It also means these two nations were at war sometime, and Amuresca won, apparently its a militaristic nation? The fact the admiral needed to marry to ascent ranks means the nobility are very much in control of it as well.
Also we haven't seen or heard of the drakes since the beginning of the comic but they also seem to have a culture of their own (albeit a more tribal/savage one) I was intrigued by one yelling at the Admiral, something abut being a thief or a usurper? cant quite recall...
Ink and paint it seems are the stuff dreams are made of. I truly do envy and admire you two (Rukis and Fencer), to have the creativity to not only dream up this world and this story within it, but the skill to put it to words and images.

Luther is giving Amon lots of potential blackmail material (even more than he already had). For some reason he trusts the jackal A LOT. That, or he's specifically trying to maneuver Amon into using it against him so he'll have an actual reason to buy him his freedom.
Crafty, Luther. Very crafty. I like it. We'll have to see where it goes from here.

I prefer to see it as his pushing Amon to give him a justifiable reason to spend large amounts of money in freeing him. It's his wife's money, and she likely knows about him, and he needs to ensure that she'll go along with such a large expenditure.
You don't want to ruin my adoration of the blue heeler's cunning, do you?

I don't know why, but the angle in the 3rd panel really brings out the more doggish features in Luther's face. Silly to say, but as he's one of those breeds/mutts who can look a bit wolfish from certain angles, it's kind of neat to see an angle that emphasizes that head shape.
I finally just couldn't resist commenting! I loveove love Amon's face in the last panel the angle of the head plus the way he's looking with those gorgeous miss matched eyes is just spectacular! I love your comics their all great and I love the detail you put into them too! Your Amaxing! yes Amaxing not Amazing.
I'm worried about Amon... He literally just traded the rest of his life into slavery for Dhaval's sake...It took him almost all of his lifetime to ammount those two thousand crowns [and he's been working since he was a kid]...Not to mention he seems to have done a similar thing in the past ,spending his debt money on a fellow slave...
His fare is a quarter of one crown, can you even imagine how many time he's had to sell his body to other people in order to achieve that? And we don't even know how much he owes in total. It could be another four or five thousand!
What's more , his usefulness to the mistress is nearing an end,and since all he'd been able to ammount so far is gone, it probably means that when the day they decide to get rid of him finally comes, his contract will be auctioned off to whoever pays the most coin...And we all know who it's gonna be...Mr. Coros there. He may have saved his tiger friend there, but he just gave himself a death sentence, and it may be coming a little too soon. He'll suffer too much on the hands of that brute! And he'll probably have to serve him for the rest of his life,too...Can you honestly say death is not the best way out for the jackal?
It's just too sad.
I doubt Luther would be able to help him because when it does come to that, Amon's the kind of guy who'll just want to face it all by himself and hates bringing anyone he cares about into his own mess, so I doubt he'd ask for help at all. There's also the chance Luther won't even be there at all when that happens, since he's a man of the sea...

I know this is old, but I do have a question: Luther's reaction towards his wife's family seems to be very different than the one he had in Heretic. My question is has that story and the emotions surrounding it changed significantly since that time or has something happened that we don't know about?
Understood, I kinda thought that might be the case after I posted, but you know how it is.
Speaking of which, how old is Luther? By my estimate he's somewhere between 40 and 46 (30+2 years at Drenholme manor+8 years of visiting brothels for lowball, and 30+3 years at the manor+8+5 more if he only started visiting a brothel in every port at the very end of the five year period mentioned at the end of Heretic for the higher estimate) I may have missed a year one way or the other in there.
