You know, I can't help but feel the whole 'is never seen' part might be spoilt by her glowing arm markings.
I also couldn't help but think of that scene where Toothless gets his name.
"Hey hey! It was just a fish! Just a gift! I was just trying to be friendly!"
The nightfury pushed Hiccup down on his back, with a strange expression on her face. In no position to disagree, Hiccup played along. He tried getting up when the weight of her hand/paws left his shoulders, and she growled.
"Would it really hurt to show a little gratitude?"
The Nightfury ignored the question and just glared at him, waiting, as if to make sure he would sit still. Once satisfied, she leaned back on her haunches, grabbed the lower edge of her loose top and lifted upwards, revealing a smooth flat torso. Hiccup blinked. Oh. Oooooooooh. The Nightfury was being grateful. Just not in a fashion that Hickup in any way desired. Not that he apparently had a lot of choice in the matter.
But at the same time, he couldn't help notice that something seemed off. Apart from the obvious.
"Funny. I could have sworn you had t..." There was a popping sound, and the Nightfurry's chest changed shape before his eyes. He never got a chance to finish his last word before she lunged forwards to show exactly how greatful she was. Hiccup's struggles didn't last very long.
