Surprisingly I don't think I have ever painted wolf pups. Well it was a fun challenge. I'm not sure I quite caught the essence of childhood innocence and enthusiasm I wanted to convey, but it sure did take me back to when I was a wee one <:. I think I still approach the simple things in life with this same sense of unabashed wonder that I had when I was little. It is not unusual to find me staring transfixed at what to anyone else is not worth sparing a glance at..be it animal or mineral or otherwise ;P.
Please check out the website and have a gander at the other magnificent submissions the calendar has gotten this year. It's so exciting and inspiring to see the new artworks flooding in for each new calendar year and reminds me to be grateful to continue to be a part of such an excellent project!

For this one I used mainly the standard chalk brush that comes with photoshop. I just ticked "tablet pressure controls opacity" next to the opacity slider C:. Also used some stock textures for the tree trunks etc and large round soft brush for blending details. Leaves are a custom brush that's tweaked, but I genuinely can't recall where I came by it!
I think that you did a wonderful job of capturing the whole childhood innocence look. :D It's captured really well, especially in sharp contrast to the parent's expression which is (imo) just as captivating. Just wanna let you know that this picture is so amazing (and I don't comment often but was blown speechless). Your work is amazing! :D
These cubs are completely adorable. And I entirely agree with your description. <33 It certainly helps that I live in the woods, that I have the opportunity to see things of wonder. For instance I saw a bear in someone's driveway on the way home. And proceeded to call the local animal control because I didn't want it to hurt little kids or have some crazy parents with a shotgun go after the poor thing. It was in the suburbs of my small town (One traffic light! ). Told the police (who are our animal control lol) that it belonged up in the woods behind my house. I figure at least then it'd have a chance of being properly cared for and not just cruelly shot. I had to take some picture though and just watch it for a bit..they're amazing animals. I certainly think you've captured that feeling of nature in this piece. :)
This is jaw droppingly beautiful. First piece of art I've seen in a LONG time that I would gladly pay $500-2000 if I had it. The amount of detail in this is incredible. You captured the playful nature and curiousity of a wolf very well. You have incredible talent!!!
Your knowledge of shadows and lighting is top notch.

I could add your entire gallery to my favorites, but this one really earned it's place. I stared at it for much longer than most. The lighting and animation in the little guys, coupled with the mother's calm. I can almost hear the humming bird as it darts suddenly forward. There is so much story in this one moment and you captured it very beautifully.
