He's a house hedgie :3 he only has a tank because if I put him in a cage when I travel he likes to break the bars and chu rubber coverings off them and make huge mess of it all, with the tank though there's no harm and I just have to clean it once a day and give it a full wash once every few weeks, when I put him in it at night he still pops the top open and climbs up on his shade box to get out xD, most days I wake up with him curled up in the curve of my neck :3 <3 Painfull but I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world when he follows me around the house x3 <3 <3 <3
They're amazing pets. We have 20 right now (not counting the babies). :D Just make sure to do your research first! If you're actually interested in learning about them and possibly getting one as a pet, I'd be happy to point you toward some good sources or answer questions.
They're a little more particular than most other small animals, which is why I always make a point of mentioning research. I'm active on a hedgehog forum, and I see a loooootttt of people who go into it not fully understanding the care requirements or what they're in for. They're actually pretty low maintenance - not as demanding of attention as ferrets, for instance - and even though they require daily handling to keep them well socialized and friendly, it can be "passive" interaction, like having them out on your lap while you're using the computer, or carrying them around in a shoulder bag while you do other things. But, you need to understand the basics of diet, temperature requirements, and certain things that they need or shouldn't have in terms of housing and accessories, etc. A lot of people assume they're rodents (very much no) and that they can be housed and fed the same as guinea pigs, for instance, and that can be a problem in a lot of ways.
