the best thing stranger things: the first shadow did was make joyce messyy no i don't mean messy like untidy i mean messyyyy like she's dating lonnie for the whole show and he clearly sucks but she thinks he's hot because he's a "bad boy" and meanwhile she actively flirts with hopper and leads him on for basically the whole show only to shut him down repeatedly when he tries to make a move. unironically i think this was the best thing they could have done for her nothing else would have made sense. we need more women who are messyy and are still the good guys. personal life in shambles but goddamn it she is going to solve this mystery and save the town type of character

Will glances away from the window to wrinkle his nose at her. “Why would I want to go home early?”
His mom smiles a little and shrugs innocently. “I don’t know. Maybe you’ll get scared and want to sleep in your own bed.”
