IDK what the fuck they’re doing in the LO fandom because their blog is constantly themed around Hellaverse stuff, I’m not even a Hellaverse viewer so why they’re drawn to me specifically is anyone’s guess (like we don’t even go to the same school /s) but putting this out there anyways to keep an eye out and block any accounts that have some sort of combination of “vivziepop hates women” “deport vivzie pop” “murder vivzie pop” etc. They’re deranged and stupid and while I’m not taking their threats towards me seriously (as someone who’s been getting death threats and other bullshit on the internet since they were 13) they’re still irritating the hell out of me, and that’s nothing compared to what I’ve found them doing to people in the Hellaverse fandom (like passing around edited text posts designed to pit you against them).
I don’t care how much you love or hate a particular media property. We have the luxury of being able to throw our poo at each other online all day about the media we love (and hate). But I hope the lot of us can come together and agree that this weird ass shit isn’t allowed in our spaces and should never, ever be entertained.
Don’t fall for the rage-bait. Don’t indulge them. Don’t give them any ammo. Report them, block them, don’t take any claims from accounts with names like “vivziepop-should-be-killed” seriously or at face value (I shouldn’t even have to explain that one but here we are) and look out for your pals and peers in your respective fandoms. Yes, that includes the people who you normally disagree with - deranged assholes like this are a threat to both sides of the fandom pool and won’t ever be satisfied until they’ve ruined everyone’s fun.
I actually bought this guy a few weeks ago (got it for a decent deal from another artist in town who i usually go to first for new machines because he’s a total machine connoisseur and he’s always got one to sell haha)
BUT it took me a hot minute to actually set it up proper because it’s a wired rig and while I still have a lot of my old gear from my coil days, I still had to figure out what still worked and what didn’t. Which is a fun game of trial and error and praying that only the cheap shit has to be replaced.
It started with the clip cable, I actually didn’t HAVE a clip cable anymore so I had to order one in. Once that was in, I eagerly hooked everything up aaaaand my stinking foot pedal isn’t compatible with my power supply (wrong port / cable combo and the adapter has long since been lost)
but w/e that’s fine because ordering in a new foot pedal is super easy, but THEN another tattoo artist pal of mine was like “I have a power supply and foot pedal I don’t use anymore that I can give you” which would save me from having to order in new shit, but this was like during Christmas / New Year’s so I had to wait for him to have time to actually swing by which took like a week and a half
First he just brought the foot pedal, which was compatible but waaaasn’t giving me quite as much kick as I needed; it was very clear that while it was hooked up to my old power supply (which isn’t in the best condition but still at least turns on) that it wasn’t maintaining a stable connection (so I’d kick it and nothing would happen, sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn’t, it was very finnicky)
so then he was like “ok i can bring you my power supply tomorrow” and then like 2 days later he brought it and we hooked it up and it was better but still pretty finnicky with the pedal kicks
so at this point I’m just hoping and figuring it’s the foot pedal that’s the problem, like even if it’s compatible it’s an old pedal and just might not be working up to code like it used to
so I ordered in a cheap $15 one figuring no harm no foul if it doesn’t work 🤷
The new foot pedal showed up today! I hooked it up and lo and behold, she’s running like a DREAM now <3 and she’s even working on my old power supply too which I’m ASTOUNDED even still works because I’ve been using it since like 2018/2019 and she’s taken so many nasty falls over the years 💀😭
It’s a Mike Pike PMA direct drive rotary, so she’s designed like a rotary, but kicks like a coil. Gentle sound, powerful hit. And getting this rig meant I could FINALLY put my practically brand new cartridge grip to good use, which I bought back in like 2019 for my coil but never got to use because my coil decided around that same time to shit the bed (and after that I wound up switching to pen machines which don’t use tubes or custom grips, so it’s literally just been sitting in its box on my bookshelf this whole time. I’m so frigging grateful to past me that I never re-sold it or threw it out 😭💓)
so it means I can use this baby with both cartridge needles and long bar needles, I just need to get some disposable tubes for the long bars again! <3 This is such a treat because I started out on coils back when I was first an apprentice, and while I’ve been used to the comforts of a wireless pen for a while now, it feels really good to get back to the old school methods of a pedal and wired-in power supply <3
I also had NO clue when I messaged my buddy to buy this rig off him that it was limited edition and gold. Like I saw pics online and assumed it was just gonna be a standard black one, but nope, super special limited time only gold machine that’s no longer on the market! Which, funnily enough, he had originally bought off my mentor (who I’m contact with for good fucking reason) which just feels like hilarious karma LMAO
Soo yeah! this was my christmas gift to myself and so I’m so ecstatic that it’s finally hooked up properly and running like butter <3
Back in 2018-2019, one of my closest friendships combusted and collapsed in on itself like a dying star. I won’t say the reasons why because those are still extremely personal to me, but it made for one of the lowest periods in my life, and left me picking up the pieces in the wake of the destruction for a long time. Losing those kinds of connections isn’t easy for me, it’s like grieving the death of a person who’s still alive, who’s still walking around and living life - but you’re not a part of it anymore, and they’re not a part of yours.
And yet a couple months ago, in spite of those pieces still being present in the remains of our DM’s as we had left them - a digital time capsule of last words - when some local talent at my local watering hole was performing a live one-man-band rendition of Billy Joel’s Piano Man, I removed that friend from my block list and sent it to them. I still remembered it as their favorite song.
And from there, we just started talking. Like the friendship had never ended. I didn’t realize how much I had really missed them, in spite of all my attempts to internalize my resentment for them; turns out, in spite of how much I had also convinced myself they must have resented me equally in turn, they had really missed me, too, and were just as eager to reconnect as I suddenly realized I was.
It was like everything that had happened to destroy our friendship just didn’t matter anymore. Maybe it never really did. Maybe things aren’t always as bad as we think they are.
Welp, I was hoping to avoid it this year, but it’s happened again - the cold winter weather has inflamed my fingers to the point of swelling, itching, and tenderness. No idea why this happens, it’s only started happening over the past few years but it’s still become a regular occurrence that I’ve come to dread every winter (in addition to everything else I dread about winter, I just hate winter sigh) It makes tattooing and drawing really difficult, especially this time around where it’s seemed to have localized on my right (dominant) hand.
While I’m doing what I can to remedy it, I’m also accepting the fact that this will probably continue to be a regular yearly thing, not even because of some untreated condition, but just as part of the Old Person Deal™️😅
