the heart of the party
until the very end

(no beers in) I lack a lot of the traits people typically define as human and on occasion it haunts me
I'm sorry WHAT
'lazy people don't feel guilty about not doing anything' is insane to me and I have been trying to make my brain believe it for a long time, it shocked me to my core when I first heard it
An important corollary to "if you were faking your mental illness, you could stop whenever you wanted."

i only just started watching ms marvel and looking back, it's genuinely hilarious the amount of hate i saw for this show. the straight white men are so used to everything catering to them that they cannot fathom a marvel show not being made for them and that maybe, there's people who see themselves in characters like kamala, who have not had much, if any, representation in media
She’s literally the sweetest girl in the world, I’ll never forgive those evil men for what they did to her.
I have to admit that the scene in the finale where hopper gets vecna‘d is actually SO GOOD, like I knew that el wasn’t dead (plot armour bla bla) but still, THIS is what I wanted the entire final battle to look like
a battle of the minds, showing the main characters their darkest fears come true, slowly driving them insane
THIS is how you do a final battle with horror instead of action, to show that you can’t win with guns, but with love
it could’ve been so good
So I’ve been thinking about Erica Sinclair and doing a Erica centric fic but I’ve thought a lot about how it would work if Erica had a version of Holly’s arc instead.
Yes I know it’s over, yes I know there are million plot holes in this idea, and yes nobody cares but walk with me
Instead of finding a “weak minded vessel” Vecna wanted a smart, independent, clever child with a distracted and grieving brother and parents that are loving but easily lied to (we find out in season 3 that Erica lies to her parents about sleeping over Tina’s when they are trapped in the Russian elevator and various schemes that her parents know nothing about in season 4) so they wouldn’t suspect anything.
Instead of appearing as a semi whimsical and kind protective figure like Mr. Whatsit, Vecna studies Erica first to figure out what form he needs to take. It has to be one that Erica trusts, that the older teens wouldn’t notice if they happened to see Erica with, in fact the perfect form is one we are all familiar with.
Mr. Clarke.
Mr. Clarke, her favorite teacher, the party’s former mentor, someone whose face we all know and would have no reason to not trust.
“Mr. Clarke.” encourages her to join the AV Club and because she’s doing so well in his class, he assigns her an extra credit project to help him build something for an end of semester project.
Vecna lost his builder in Will, he gains a new one in Erica.
What’s Erica building for Vecna?
The bridge between worlds, something rooted in both the physical and inter dimensional world that Vecna can’t just create with his powers.
We the audience see Erica hanging out in AV Club, working on this extra credit project and all the while, Vecna is still taking background kids but that’s not the focus. Vecna’s plan hinges on Erica.
When Will figures out that Derek is the next kid to be taken and they need Erica to get into the Turnbow House, that plot still happens, Tina still shoulda eat her goddamn pie but it’s one big fake out, one demogorgon goes to the turnbows while three more demogorgons go off to find Erica but they aren’t at the barn there yet.
On the way to the barn, something happens and for some reason they have to stop at Hawkins Middle School and while they are briefly there, Erica runs inside to get something for her project.
The demogorgons converge on the middle school and because a passerby saw something weird or even spotted Robin who the army is looking for stealing the drugs, the military is also there and the Episode 4 battle is moved from the Mac-Z to the middle school as a callback to the demogorgon attack in the school in Season 1.
Vecna comes into the real world to retrieve Erica himself and we see in his exchange with Will through Will’s POV that every moment we’ve seen of Erica this season with Mr. Clarke she’s been alone, all the cut scenes of her in AV club there is no one there, and when she thinks she’s been happily in her bedroom working on this extra credit work, she’s been building for Vecna, eyes white, face empty.
Vecna takes Erica in front of everyone, it’s absolutely devastating. He takes her to the house in his memory and with his builder finally home, his real work can begin.
But someone is watching.
Max.
Wouldn’t that be kinda cool? Or is this a shitty idea idk but I thought I’d share🤣
