I can’t get over how much the episode 2 crazy emotionally intimate first time anal sequence sets up for the entire rest of the show but especially episode 6. we see them joking with each other and horsing around and racing each other up the stairs. the playfulness of oh you missed meeee and mister landlord mister businessman. the warmth and coziness of the setting… the first time they’re not in a hotel room but in shane’s house, just this private sheltered space that feels so safe. the incredible tenderness of the sex scene where so much of it is shot in this way that makes you feel soooo close to them, so right there with them in their feelings, in this suspended-in-time moment that feels totally private and wholly theirs. ilya’s gentleness and shane letting himself fully, fully relax into it. the two of them taking such good care of each other. the stairwell scene after where shane’s just talking to keep him there and ilya’s lingering because he doesn’t want to leave. that KISS and the way shane watches him all drowsy and content. I feel like that scene is what makes shane so sure about ilya later. what enables him to keep muddling forward even when ilya’s fear is making everything so murky and confused and painful between them. that’s shane’s north star memory, man. he doesn’t know how they’re gonna get to where he wants them to be but he knows what it’ll feel like when they get there.

everything about the bathroom scene murders me. shane practically running from the awards ceremony trying to get as far away as he can so he can have his Big Feelings alone. ilya arriving just seconds later so you KNOW he was hot on shane's heels even if he's trying to act all casual about it like what are the chances i just sauntered into the same faraway bathroom. shane's FACE when he's looking at ilya waiting to see what ilya's going to say to him and you can just SEE the longing and confusion and hurt all over his expression. and then ilya LAUGHING, obviously trying to break the tension and make it just part of their jokey fuck-you bros bantering routine, giving shane an out (we don't have to get serious, we don't have to talk about it, we can just let the fact that i went radio silent and ignored you for six months slide), and shane refusing to take the out!! with TEARS in his EYES!!! demanding to know what ilya wants!!! and ilya being like ok i'll make it about sex that's safe. suck my dick. except you can see the second he registers that he's pushed shane too far and is in danger of losing him for good and then he pushes off the wall and closes the distance between them and grabs shane's jaw (you're MINE this is how I touch you you're mine you're MINE). and i love how the d/s text of the scene (ilya holding shane's face and making him say please) barely conceals the emotional subtext! the please isn't about shane wanting ilya to suck his dick!!! it's please see me, please want me, please don't ghost me, please need this like i do. please. it KILLS ME!!!! and then shane wants to be kissed sooooooo bad he's turning his face up towards him waiting and ilya doesn't kiss himmmmm he doesn't kiss him!!!! we didn't even kiss wahhhh but ilya lets him lean against him and take the wordless comfort he needs!!! and then they kinda find their footing again because shane got what he needed, sort of, or he got what ilya could give him and he’s decided to take it. the whole part afterwards wahhh where they're joking about the new yorker being boring (they're right) and shane's softened a little but his body language is still so touch me please hold me pleasepleaseplease let me lean on you hold me hold me hold me hold me will you just hold me and then finally ilya kisses him instead of telling shane what he's going to do with him because he can't say what he really wants to do (have him. hold him. keep him). SORRY to be such a HUGE SAP about it but i'm PASSIONATELY INTO IT
I will say, I really appreciate the way that Hudson and Connor's personas are being crafted as very specifically not their characters, highlighting all the ways they're different from them. Connor tapping into his softer, kinder side, almost shy - very distinctly not Ilya. Hudson tapping into his chaotic, sexual and unapologetic side - very distinctly not Shane. It's so easy for first breakout roles to merge with how actors are perceived, so easy to lean in, and they're doing an amazing job of not just promoting the show, but really driving home the fact that 1) it's not really them 2) they're really good at their jobs as actors because look how different we are. It's a joy to watch.

The hottest Ilya Rozanov has ever looked is when Shane asks "how could we let this happen?" and you can see Ilya behind him completely lost in the sauce hanging by a tenuous thread having clearly been edged to an inch of his life going at the pace Shane wants like the service top that he is and that vein visibly throbbing and almost popping out of his temple and his eyes are love drunk fuck struck sex crazed staring at Shane's lips and he's sweating his balls off as red as a tomato looking like he's 2 seconds away from having a reunion with his mother and he loves Shane and Shane loves him and he's too hard rn to understand what the actual fuck a rhetorical question is so he answers out of breath with a not contained at all horniness with something about stupid and irresponsible and Shane finally finally says "please fuck me" so he grips Shane's thigh with one hand and his shoulder with the other and starts thrusting like his life depends on it and Shane's gripping his hair and controlling his movements like the freaking rat from ratatouille and he pulls those golden curls hard enough to take out a few strands and Shane's fingers are in his mouth and he sucks on his nipples so hard he almost has him lactating and the windows are open and the sun is shining and it's a perfect fucking sight.
