Yeah it’s six different blogs bc that’s how prevalent this is. It just makes me uncomfortable how widespread this trend is of talking about/sexualizing their bodies in very specific ways that I don’t think a lot of people consciously clock as racist. Gerard Way also has broad shoulders and big hands. Ray Toro has a soft jaw and a sweet smile.
Like I have seen about 500 posts about the aforementioned cute little pixie nose. Sorry but I’m sick to death of the cute little pixie nose being held up as the pinnacle of beauty and softness and gentleness etc. Where are my Ray Toro nose appreciation posts? It’s all about the muscles in his arms and his dick bulge but that man has a beautiful face. Y’all can reblog a hundred photos saying ‘Ray in the background serving face” but have you ever described his features in loving detail the way you will Gerard or Frank? Because I haven’t seen it. Do you depict them with the same loving detail and commitment to accuracy? If it weren’t for the work of racialized artists, the fanart situation might lead people to believe mcr’s lead guitarist is some random white woman. Lots of people talk about his smile, which is great because it’s beautiful, but the majority of those lean too far in the other direction and dehumanize/desexualize him into a literal ray of sunshine. Like his internal light shines through features you don’t find beautiful.
I love Ray Toro’s face. His features are my features and the features of people I love. It makes me sad that other people don’t love them too. It pisses me off. The exaltation of tiny sweet pixie noses is the reason my sister got a nose job. Ray Toro spent the better part of the 2000s telling people he didn’t like the way he looked because he was taught that his features were ugly and this was reinforced for him regularly, including by fans. Your fandom activities don’t exist in a vacuum.
Btw this is especially important to keep in mind if you’re predominantly using she/her for Gerard, *especially* if you’re posting about a sexual dynamic between them that involves Ray in a dominant and/or aggressive role: this feeds into the evergreen blight on the romance genre/white collective consciousness that is beautiful fragile white woman/Behemoth racialized man. And yeah I get it height/size difference is a thing you’re thinking with your dick/pussy well so were those 1950s housewives reading about women like them being ravaged by “beasts” (indigenous men from various regions). You *have* to understand how these things fit in context with whiteness and how it’s constructed. Western concepts of gender are inherently racist and exist the way they do to reinforce racism. And honestly minimizing the features that don’t fit with hegemonic ideals of femininity in a person you perceive as transfeminine while holding up their more stereotypically feminine features as symbolic of femininity is not so great for transfeminine people either.
tpk would’ve 100% been my favorite mcr album if it was real. every leaked song is near perfect and the plot of the album is so good it makes me want to write a fic based in that universe…
