I cannot delete a keyword for multiple files at once

Geeqie version [geeqie --version]: 1.7.2

I cannot delete a keyword for multiple files at once. I can add a keyword for multiple files but not delete a keyword for multiple files. When I press the right mouse button on a keyword in the side panel I can delete the keyword but that is not deleting the metadata from the files.

According to Gemini I should see "delete from files" when I right click a keyword. Or I should see a plus and minus sign appear when I click a keyword, but I don't see that. Also CTRL-delete doesn't do anything. I am not good at looking up my keyboard settings in the settings from Geeqie.
