Unable to set power on password

I tried building the firmware on my own and saw the power_on_password flag in the makefile, so I flipped it to 1. I built it, flashed it, but when I enter chirp (using the latest driver) I see no option regarding password. If I browse the values and manually set the password I still don't get a password prompt when turning on the radio. I'm not really a programmer guy so I've been trying for the passt few hours to figure this out using chatgpt but no cigar. Is this feature even available? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your message. I haven’t worked on the ENABLE_PWRON_PASSWORD feature. It’s an old legacy from Egzumer’s firmware, which my firmware is based on. My firmware don't use it.

If you don’t see anything related to it in CHIRP, it’s simply because the CHIRP driver would also need to be updated to support this feature. As you can imagine, the driver can’t automatically and dynamically adapt to every change made to the firmware… that would be a bit too easy 😉

Hello, I kinda figured it out. I was trying (with the help of chatgpt) to tinker the code and hopefully enable it again but no luck. I got it to a point where a login prompt would come up but I couldn't set the password. Thanks for clarifying things. I will try to experiment on my own again a bit later

So, I not only managed to set up password, I also managed to make it configurable via the radio menu. (When I say I I mean chatgpt who wrote the code and me who debugged it). I will post the code (hopefully tomorrow) for anyone interested in enabling this feature, and for you if you'd like to have a look. Thanks again for this amazing firmware, I can't imagine using the stock one 😆

If I'm not mistaken it can also be changed via chirp, via the browse tab (haven't tested yet). I will also try to implement an on/off toggle
