Perhaps we should wait to merge this until we get confirmation of how this string behaves across multiple PHP versions/platforms? This also seems like a strong argument for setting up a Travis CI build that runs tests across multiple PHP versions: http://about.travis-ci.org/docs/user/languages/php/ |

Added info about different cipher names and moved "specifying the SSL cipher" up.
Maybe this will be helpful for some people, because it's probably the most common problem since the RC4-SHA cipher requirement.
