Last year, @nevo-david organized a DevFest AI month-long event. The idea was good: contribute to open source, earn points, and get swags. But the event also had a commercial angle - participants were told to star and fork certain promoted repositories, which were clearly sponsored. The sponsorship money should have gone towards swags and community rewards.
However, @nevo-david never shipped the swags. When people started questioning him, he deleted his Twitter account and has been ghosting the DevFest Discord community ever since.
This isn't just about swags - it’s about accountability. Commercializing an event by promising rewards and then not delivering is dishonest. If there were genuine issues, he should have addressed the community that made those sponsorships possible, instead of disappearing.
This space is the last possible place for the community to ask him about it.
