Unable to load class 'io.github.oshai.kotlinlogging.KotlinLogging'

Hi, after I upgraded kotlin to 2.2.20 and ktlint to 5.2.0, Im getting this error after running related tasks
I found a workround that add "io.github.oshai:kotlin-logging-jvm:7.0.0" to my classpath, but i dont think it is an standard approach.

Execution failed for task ':app:formatKotlinAndroidTest'.

There was a failure while executing work items
A failure occurred while executing org.jmailen.gradle.kotlinter.tasks.format.FormatWorkerAction

I think you mean kotlinter 5.2.0 (which defaults to ktlint 1.7.1).
The versions you are using are totally standard and get tested in this project's CI matrix.

Can you post more of your project configuration including gradle version, plugins applied, and kotlinter extension if you set anything different than the default.
io.github.oshai:kotlin-logging-jvm is a dependency of the underlying ktlint library and it should get configured as a transitive dependency in the ktlint dependency configuration.
Is that where you are adding your dependency? E.g.

dependencies {
  ktlint("io.github.oshai:kotlin-logging-jvm:7.0.0")
}

You shouldn't need to, I'm just trying to understand which dependency configuration seems to be lacking this configuration.

I updated kotlinter to 5.2.0

Gradle: 8.14.3
AGP: 8.11.1
Kotlin: 2.2.0
ktlint: 11.0.0

detekt in classpath: 1.23.0

I also have many Android-related plugins, for example:
1- Navigation
2- Wire
3- kotlin android - kotlin jvm

in buildScript.dependenies block i have this:
classpath("io.github.oshai:kotlin-logging-jvm:7.0.0")

So, this plugin uses it's own dependency configuration, ktlint, so it confuses me how the buildscript classpath addition would fix it? Does it also fix your issue to do something like?

  ktlint("io.github.oshai:kotlin-logging-jvm:7.0.0")
}

The idea is that ktlint dependencies should be self contained. When we changed the design to do that we believed that we were isolating ourselves from any dependency weirdness. And the version of ktlint you configure should bring this logging library with it.

I wonder if one of the other plugins is somehow playing a part as well? Might require printing out some dependency trees to get to the bottom of it.
