laggy input on iPad

Describe the bug

Using either finger or pencil input the stroke lags a lot. The line drags along 1cm behind the pencil or fingertip when drawing quickly.
On the Apple Notes app the lag is significantly lower when drawing at the same speed, around 2mm behind the tip.

Also on Android (Galaxy Tab S7) the pen input in Saber is much more responsive too (also around 2mm behind the tip).

To reproduce

1. Run Saber on iPad
2. Create new note or open whiteboard
3. Draw with finger or pencil
4. Observe severe input lag
5. Open Apple Notes
6. Draw at the same speed
7. Observe significantly lower input lag.

Expected behavior

Responsive, low latency input like apple notes or like on Android.

0.26.8

• Device: iPad mini 7 (2024)
• OS: iPadOS 26.0

Anything else?

I already disabled pencil sounds, set the pen to ballpoint pen and set resolution to 500 in the settings. None of it had any effect.

I can confirm this behaviour. In my similar case, I have an iPad Air M3 (2025) and a Samsung Tab S6 Lite. The latter works with no perceptible lag for me, but the former has a significant lag. And, is this something new? I only noticed the significant lag in the last few days. Before recent updates, it seemed to work fine for me. Unfortunately, Saber on the iPad is not really usable at the moment, because of the lag.

(By the way, I love Saber because I can see what I write in any of my tablets and computers, at home and at work. My use case is that I have a computer and a tablet at work, and a computer and a tablet at home, and I don't want to commute to work transporting devices other than my phone. So having any Saber file visible in the four of them is exactly what I need.)

Oh, let me add one more thing. If I use my iPad as an extended display for my Mac, then the pen works with no lag. The only downside is that we see the (rather large) mouse pointer going up and down as we write, which I find rather annoying, although the quality of handwriting is actually better. Thanks.
