My vision is a world where every nation has technological sovereignty, and the technology and machines we use every day can be studied, understood and modified by everybody, regardless of race, background, or nationality. My mission is to make open source software compete with closed alternatives so engineers and scientists leverage open tools and open standards, and embrace a sharing mindset.

I love contributing to projects in the scientific Python ecosystem, from small, niche libraries (like poliastro, a Python library for Astrodynamics) to big, foundational libraries (NumPy, SciPy). When I arrive to a small project, I enjoy doing a bit of triaging on recent issues (marking duplicates, checking for a valid license, running it in recent Python versions) and always try to "leave the code better than I found it".

Apart from my code contributions, I have spent a significant part of my life bringing the joy of open source to the Real World™, organizing monthly Python meetups in Madrid, Spain for a couple of years and PyCon Spain, a yearly, nation-wide event with now around 800 attendees, for seven years. I attend conferences talking about poliastro, numba, testing for scientific projects, and sustainability issues in our communities.

Finally, I contributed several innovative teaching materials for scientists and engineers, like this free Python course in Spanish (part II, our AeroPython lectures for engineers, and several subjects on Python for Data Science and putting Python in production.

I believe in the power of sharing (I upload lots of small snippets to Gist), the power of transparency (I share my thought process on technical decisions and roadmaps for everybody to read and learn) and the power of the community (the more open my work is, the happier I am!)
