I am hoping you will support Drayton as their situation as a refugee from the Ugandan government persecuting them for their LGBTQ+ identity is very challenging. Here is their story verbatim without editing from them as I asked to receive it in their own words:
Hello everyone, am drayton, am LGBTQ refugee from Uganda,I left Uganda in the year of 2019 because of being a gay, in Uganda being a LGBTQ you get arrested or killed, in Uganda, I lived a life torture because of being a gay, am a child without parents from 11 years. Up To date, when my parents died when am 11 i was to stay with my uncle, were I faced a lot of challenges.
I was expelled from schools for being a gay child, even at home, my uncle and the community wanted to kill me, the only option I had is to ran away to save my life, i ran from Uganda because also the government wasn't able to protect me rather than arresting me, in order to save my life, I ran to Kenya the neighbor country to request for asylum, I have been staying in Kenya Kakuma refugee camp from that time imagine, for all of those years, I wasn't helped.
I have faced a lot of challenges in Kenya Kakuma refugee camp, physical assault, persecution and torture by my fellow refugees and inhabitants (the turkana warriors), I lost friends the ones I knew very well in the community as a result of being attacked the houses I was living where all burnt down which led to lose of lives, but the world doesn't know, for all of those years without being help by because of what I am.
I live a life of having nothing to eat, I lack basic needs like education, shelter and treatment, and up to now am living the same situation, also am living with prostatitis giving me pain.
Am living in the lgbt community here in the camp in which, many things I suffer together with them too, mostly without treatment, and without basics.
