The Last Degree

Rate this book
The Last Degree is a fictionalized account of how Freemasons and other secret societies set up the world for takeover. Ancient writings foretell a ‘Shining One’ who emerges as the world’s prophet. A murder of a Most Worshipful mason resembles a secret oath. A cop gets too close to solving the crime. Paranoid preppers go underground, preparing for war.Headlines such as the Norway massacre, meltdown of the European Union, unscrupulous media, animal die-offs, Middle Eastern unrest, and U.S. shrinking power make the plot relevant to present day. This book is an ode to Christians, Birthers, 2012ers, Truthers, preppers, and/or other conspiracy junkies who enjoy Dan Brown, Jesse Ventura, Brad Meltzer, Alex Jones, Jerry Jenkins and Tim LaHaye.

Thought Provoking & Entertaining!

Once again Dina Rae takes us on a journey starting with a murder mystery that leads into ties with the Scottish Rite Freemason’s promoting the New World Order ideology. With the combined theories from the secret societies such Military cartels determined to stop the New World Order, Religious Fanatics who hang on Revelations theory about the “Shinning One” or as most Christians belief of the Anti-Christ and the end of time second coming teachings along with the “Mark of the Beast” – the story makes for one fantastic read that will have you glued to the pages and hanging on the edge of your seat as the story’s mystery comes to a climax.

I have to say that I really enjoyed this book, it was very thought provoking to me and though I am not a Truther, a brained washed religious fanatic, or even in a military gang, it definitely gave me pause at how close to home some of the events described in the book were so much like our own real world situations we are experiencing in our current day 2012.

So depending on your political views, your religious views, your military views, or your just don’t care attitude will depend on how this book will affect you. Either way, the emotion you gain after reading this story just proves how captivating the brilliant writing skills are that this author has weaved through out this amazing story as the action and events come alive upon the page.

The characters were captured beautiful showing the different sides of feelings from each party. There is no romance in this story but maybe just the possibility of a start of a relationship in the military cartel.

Over All – Excellent read and brilliant writing. I will say this however, this book needs to be made into a movie – Move over Dan Brown, there’s a new author in town – LOL (I didn’t say that to be mean – I was teasing, I love Dan Brown’s work)

************************************

On a personal note – meaning my own opinion about the events described in the book compared to the events happening right now (2012 and an election year).

1. New World Order – secret societies exist, most of us know them as terrorist groups, socialized countries, and dictatorship countries.
2. Mark of the Beast – Use of a computer chip for finding our pets or even our children is now being used.
3. Election of the right president - Current election of the right one to recover our democratic world from turning into a socialized economy – right now our government is getting to big in my opinion and we as a people are losing our rights. I am a independent and would probably be one of those ones who join a military cartel to stop a socialistic or dictatorship ruling. Also known as rebels.
4. Nuclear War – Right now Iran is our country’s biggest threat. North Korea is a threat too.
5. Annex of Mexico – Right now that is our current president’s agenda by giving amnesty to all the illegal aliens a free entry to our country.
6. Shinning One – Christian beliefs today feel the end of times is upon us – actually most felt this way 4 years ago at the election of our current president and believe he is the son of perdition. Personally I don’t believe he is the Anti-Christ but believe he is a part of the New world order with his socialistic agenda regardless of what color he is. I believe there is a higher power but do not believe in any church teachings especially ones who teach hatred towards others.
7. Conspiracy Theories – Truthers believe 911 didn’t happen and it was all fake. LMAO! Now that was a cool trick, please share with me that magic.
8. Black Magic – The black arts have always existed but if there is ever going to be any paranormal event, I wish they’d hurry up and reveal themselves and share their secret.
9. Power of the Shinning one – who knows, if we have another earth quake and knocks our planet off its axes again we just might all inherit some magic powers.
10. Murder – In general, there will all ways be killings, jealousy, greed, power, and hatred will always exist.

Finally – whether you are religious or not, we are all going to die somehow and some way so make your life count for the good. I believe in good Karma – what goes around comes around, however there is a thin line between the dark side and light side so try to make the right choice when it comes to surviving this crazy world we live in.

The Last Degree took me by surprise. I am a history buff and I have heard a lot of stories about the Freemasons and how the rule the world. Well after reading this book I thought that the rumors just might be true. I want to give FMB Blog Tours a huge thank you for allowing me to be a part of this tour.

In The Last Degree The Freemasons are trying to take over the world. There are secrets they hold and will do anything to rule this world. This book has so many twists and turns in it. It was hard not to think that one day this could happen to Americans. The Freemasons will kill, steal and corrupt to rule this world. They will stop at nothing to gain the upper hand from any rival groups.

Dina did an excellent work setting up the world and all the historical information. She did her homework and if you are a history buff you will love this book. It takes you on such a ride that I did not want to put the book down. The richness the pages contained had me wanting to Google certain things just to read about them and see what kind of conspiracy people were saying.

This is definitely a SUMMER MUST READ for all you history and teachers out there!

I know, I know, after reading that synopsis you’re probably thinking, Nova, are you crazy!? (I’m not going to answer that by the way!) Yet another book that is focused on politics! Look at that synopsis! Politics AND religion!

But wait guys, I read this because it sounded interesting. Plus the cover just makes you curious, right? Right! So I decided why not? Worst case scenario I don’t like it. Best case, I love it! Well guess what!? Yet again my instincts won out! This book, although completely filled with politics and conspiracy theories, was seriously good! Seriously! I could not put it down. Just as I was starting to wane something happened to urge me on. The plot was well thought out, I mean holy god, there was so much information in this but was given a bit at a time so as not to overwhelm and the characters were great.

I was caught at the beginning. I mean you guys know I like horror but first page and a guy is getting his throat slit. So ok, I admit, I’m hooked. Then it’s one thing after another and honestly I couldn’t pin point who the bad guys were! I’m screaming in my head, what is going to happen!? 4% left in the book and I still didn’t figure out what was going to happen. It was beautifully done!

Characters, as I said were amazing, but the only downside, there were so many! I mean of course, you can’t take over the world with two people. And the chapters jumped between dates, 1964, 2000, 2012 and B.G. which is Before Globalization. With each jump I had to acclimate to the new jump but this gets easier and easier as you get to know all of these characters. Even with so many it starts to feel intimate and the dates start to all make sense, everything comes together flawlessly.

I have to say Larry is probably my favorite character but there are many great voices in this story. So many that jump out but Larry! Now that guy is something. Intelligent, charismatic and cute, the charm literally oozes off of the page. Eileen is another favorite oh and Anne! Anne is seriously intense.

Fortunately Sept 21st I get to do an author interview with Dina Rae! And I have to say, I can’t wait to learn more about this fabulous book and this great author! Don’t let the synopsis fool you guys, this is a really interesting book. Yes, full of conspiracy theories and politics but so worth your time! You may just want to build a bunker after reading it though!

I was given a PDF of this book for purpose of honest review by the author. I was not compensated for the review, and it is honestly given and all words are my responsibility.

I will say that if you are a fan of conspiracy theories, and enjoyed Dan Brown, you most certainly will appreciate this book. The author has gone into great detail to research the history of secret societies and the lore that fuels their mystique. This story focuses on the acts of two main groups, the Preppers (or Prepared ones) and the Freemasons, and the battle to control the world.

The Preppers are working against the goals of the Freemasons, who condone all manner of activities to obtain their goal of unilateral governmental control, including murder, satanic ritualization and political upheaval. Like many conspiracy theories, there is never truly one clear cut and defined “good” guy or “bad guy” – all have their reasons and their failures, and use the means to justify the end result.

I found this book enjoyable, with a few exceptions. In places I found the writing to need some editing, there were typos that made little sense from a proofreading perspective. I’m strangely neurotic about these things. There were also some issues with story continuity and realism – you cannot, for example, take a taxi to the Statue of Liberty. As a first novel, I thought it was a well created and crafted work, and hope that the author continues to expend what obviously was a copious amount of research time to get little distinctions correct.

If you are looking for a read that will open the door to yet another master plan to take over the world, you can’t go far wrong reading this book. My expectation is that the story is the first in a series, which would explain the unfinished feel at the end, and only hope that the subsequent volume will do this first book justice.

I gave this book a solid 4 stars. The book is genre listed as Action/Adventure/Paranormal – among others, and may be rather disappointing for those looking to find more paranormal and layers of political intrigue. But, it will have great appeal to those who appreciate conspiracy theories and enjoy some historical facts and context in their reading. It was, a solid effort and an enjoyable read.

The Last Degree is an intriguing conspiracy theory novel filled with an intricate agenda by the Freemasons to gain control and dominate the world in order to create a one global government. The storyline focuses on the conspiracy of the Freemasons, and their attempt at a global takeover by any means necessary to attain their goal ... New World Order.

The author weaves a fascinating tale rich with descriptions of the secret societies and attention to detail backed with historical research and documentation. The characters are realistic and calculating, it makes one ponder about just how powerful and dangerous these people can really be if their plans were ever realized. As a person who generally doesn't read this type of novel, I have to admit that it made me sit up and wonder 'what if?' ... I'm sure that this is exactly what author Dina Rae had intended when she wrote this novel, and I think she's succeeded. I can only imagine the depth of research that went into this novel, this is a really intriguing story that will make people sit up and take notice. I think author Dina Rae has found herself a new home among the conspiracy theorist authors, kudos on a fascinating novel.

Conspiracy theory fans, this novel is right up your alley, so place this one on your reading list, you won't be disappointed!

I received a copy of this book by the author in return for an honest review.

This book is a conspiracy theorists dream! It certainly got me thinking about certain past events, and what the future holds!

There are too many points of view from different characters in this book to do a character breakdown, so I will refrain in this instance.

This story begins in 2000 and jumps between the years 1964 and 2012. It is told in a "past, present and future" style that I found slightly disconcerting. There are many different character timelines with in those time frames. However, as the time lines converge, the story takes a real twist. The story follows a few key people (fictionalized) belonging to the Freemasons and Illuminati and their plan for globalization. There is a prophecy, dating back to biblical times, about the rise of the "Shining One", a man who will bring peace to the world through New World Order.

As I was reading this book, I was struck by how well researched the subject matter was. Although the Freemasons have been shrouded in secrecy for hundreds of years, I doubt their secrets will be revealed in the future either. However, I did find myself struggling with belief (or is that disbelief?) of some of the claims in the book about what the people in the inner circles get up to. I also found this book quite a heavy read; I felt like I was wading in mud in places, because there was very little in the way of action; this book is very plot driven. The latter part of the book sees the action start to heat up though! I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and I am looking forward to reading the next book to find out what happens next.

Dina Rae has created a fantastic thriller/suspense/dystopian novel that will keep the conspiracy theorists paranoid for a while longer! I recommend this book if you love a good conspiracy/thriller. - Lynn Worton

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I was given a copy of The Last Degree from the author for a review via Full Moon Bites.

The Last Degree is about the Freemasons, the Illuminati and other secret societies wanting to take over the world. It is written in different POV's which is good I think because you get to know what each character is thinking and feeling. They will do whatever it takes to rule the world. Whatever it takes means murder, blackmail, embezzlement ect...

Then you have what are called the Preppers who are trying to stop the Freemasons from taking over the world. The Preppers build their own little worlds and stock up on all different kinds of supplies. Like weapons, food and whatever you need to survive an apocalypse.

I usually don't read many books of this nature but when I read the summary I knew I had to read this one. It was my chance to learn or find out more about the Freemasons and the Illuminati. Yes, I am one of those that thinks that this could one day happen to us. Maybe not in the same way but it could happen. They are some things in the book that I do agree with and think that we as human beings should already have done. I believe that we are one so therefore we should do away with imaginary borders.

I can not begin to comprehend all the research that Dina Rae must have put into writing this book. It is brilliantly written. Between all the characters in the book and the way she would go from the present to the past. The Last Degree is one of those books that will keep you on the edge of your seat hanging on and you just have to know what is going to happen next. You don't want to put it down and when you have to it is definitely not because that is something that you want to do.

In her book The Last Degree, Dina Rae gives us a fascinating, sometimes frightening glimpse into the inner workings of the secret societies and their evil apocalyptic conspiracy. This is a very enjoyable book. Normally, I do most of my reading at night, but I’ll admit parts of this book were read in the daytime as the occult and satanic subject matter was keeping me awake. The Last Degree refers to the highest level of achievement in Freemasonry. As it turns out, at least according to the author, Freemasonry is deeply involved in the occult and is working behind the scenes to implement a “New World Order” under the rule of the devil and his/her followers. Different books from the bible, including Revelations are skillfully interwoven with Freemason mythology and world history to create a seamless apocalyptic scenario. At first, The Last Degree has elements of a crime story and mystery as detectives and a reporter investigate the murder of the highest ranking Freemason in Chicago. As the story unfolds, Dina Rae expertly adds elements of religion, espionage, war and politics to create a complex and multidimensional world. For this reason, The Last Degree will appeal to a wide variety of readers. Clearly, Dina Rae has considerable knowledge and has done a lot of research in writing this book. Conspiracy buffs will be delighted! From the survivalist compounds in the Smokey Mountains to the intricate details of the Freemason rituals, The Last Degree will keep you in suspense from start to finish. This is a 5 star book that I can easily recommend!

Review of The Last Degree by Dina Rae

5 stars

A complicated murder/terrorism/secret society mystery bouncing back and forth between time periods, “The Last Degree” also includes elements of romance and love; political stances and affiliations; and a plethora of “behind the scenes” kingmaking, queenmaking, and juggling of governments and economies. The novel doesn’t blink at violence, either, whether on the individual scale or on the mass scale. Much of the covert activity is due to the higher councils of Freemasonry, but the Illuminati are also included, and an annual meeting called “Vanderbild” which strongly put me in mind of the rumours about Bohemian Grove.

Although I didn’t read this in one sitting, the story did maintain my reader’s attention throughout. Most definitely fans of Dan Brown’s “The DaVinci Code” and “Angels and Demons” are going to devour “The Last Degree,” as are conspiracy theorists of many stripes, and all who expect and are concerned about a coming “New World Order” and “one-world government.”

*SPOILER ALERT* *DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T LIKE SPOILERS*

Conspiracy buffs awaiting the next Dan Brown novel can stop holding their breath, Dina Rae has provided what you need in The Last Degree.

This book follows an extremely intricate plot full of agendas and struggles for world domination. As is indicated by the front cover image of the Masonic Blue Lodge ring, this book primarily focuses on the conspiracy of the Freemasons, specifically 33rd degree Scottish Rite masons, to attain control of the world through all means necessary, including murder, political intrigue and satanism.

Preppers Unite! One of the major characters in the book is a prepper and has built an entire compound with...nope, not telling...read it yourself! Dina Rae did some very good research and put together what some preppers might call "Prepperland".

All in all I recommend this book to anyone out there that enjoys Dan Brown or the "conspiracy" genre in general, you will not be disappointed!

This story was woven. Woven loosely at first and I had no idea how this was all going to go down but in the end, it had me thinking. The pieces all fell into place and by the end of the book, the pages flew by and the players fell into place and I was felt thinking. Really? Could this happen if all the pieces fell into place? We’re talking about world domination and we’re not talking about robots or aliens, we’re talking about an elite set of individuals who put their playing pieces all in a row and in the end, they were left holding the bag. This book is full of ideas and at times, I had a hard time keeping everything straight. What saved me, was that the chapters were labeled so I was able to change gears and remember what was actually taking place and it kept me on course. The author had to have done quite a bit of research on the subject matter to go into such detail in her book.

Dina Rae has woven conspiracy theories together so well that are so realistic, it is almost scary. You will close this book and wonder - could this really happen?

Rae explores secret socities, destiny, and a master minded plan to take over the world, and writes it all in a manner within which a layman can understand. What impressed me the most about the writing of this book was the attention to detail with historic facts and documents. The research alone to write this book must have taken hundreds of hours and it definitely paid off!

If you are a lover of conspiracy theories this is definitely the book for you. Certainly holds a candle to anything Dan Brown writes.

The book is quite long but sails along smoothly and I would highly recommend reading it.

I'm a great fan of conspiracy theory stories, as they marry the best elements of fact, fiction and myth. The Last Degree did all of those things and then some. There is more myth brought to life in The Last Degree, and it's an element I enjoyed. The Masons have long been a favorite secret society of mine, and the author brings their mystery to the page with some religious interpretation that works really well. The history is well-researched and the pacing keeps you engaged.

There are many comparisons of this author to Dan Brown and I think that is very accurate. If you liked Angels and Demons or The DaVinci Code, The Last Degree is right up your proverbial alley.

*I received a free digital copy of this novel through a book promotions blog which was supplied by the author for my honest, unbiased review. I have no affiliations with the author.

Ahh. Where to start?? This book is definitely something else, that's for sure. This book not only jumps from different POV's but also from different times, so you get a kind of whiplash jumping from the past, to the present, to deeper into the past and then back to the present. It's quite tiresome. To get down to the point, this book delves into conspiracy theories, free masonry, the Illuminati and religion. I for one don't care much for conspiracy theories and would rather not buy into that stuff, but reading this book kinda flashed some light on that. You know how you read fictional books and you wish they were real, but you know they're not? You have a strong hold onto reality, right? Well, this book, I feel like that line for me is blurred. I can't help but acknowledge that maybe the Illuminati and all this New World Order stuff is real and it sorta freaked me out to the point where I really considered DNFing this book. But, I stuck with it and finished it. It was interesting, I'll give you that, interesting enough for me to finish the book.

I didn't like the book, because I didn't agree with a lot of what was happening. Blame it on my upbringing, but while reading this book I couldn't help but include my morals in my thought process with some of the actions of the characters. Also, the jumping around from POV's and time frames, again, it was tiring. I'm usually really good about reading books with multiple POV's, but this one was just too much, I felt like I was playing a game of tag and I could never catch up *sigh* Now, I didn't completely dislike this book, it had it's up points as well. One of those being the characters, aside from the crazy things that happened in this book, the characters were well developed and so danged believable. Another thing I liked about this book was that it balanced all the conspiracy mumbo jumbo with religion. I'd rather not read a book with any kind of religion stuff in it, but I was thankful for that in this book. I felt that after reading about devil worshiping, a little faith definitely got me through to finishing this book.

I've been on the fence about recommending this book since I got far enough into it to develop thoughts. I wouldn't recommend this book if you're totally against reading anything having to do with free masonry, Illuminati and all that jazz. However, if you're into that kinda thing, jump right on it. Aside from that, this book is well written and definitely kept me reading despite my wanting to DNF'ing it.

This book was not at all what I was expecting when I started. I was expecting your typical conspiracy theory story that tells you the world is doomed and its time to prepare. What I got instead was a very detailed story about how ancient prophecies and modern happenings are coming together to symbolize the end of the world as we know it and the coming of a New World Order.

The author spent a lot of time coming up with the conspiracy. And it shows in the details. This helps overcome the couple of other issues that are involved in the telling. The story is a bit jumpy. Each chapter takes place with different characters and in different times. This can create some confusion in following a set timeline. You do adjust and get used to it, but it makes the beginning a bit slow. The main characters are varied and developed enough to make them interesting. A little more editing on the story to bring it to the level of detail of the conspiracy itself would have made a huge difference. However, in the end the author has weaved all the parts together in a satisfactory way.

If you like reading about conspiracies and are interested in a story about what could happen if all the people out there preaching the end of the world are right. Then this is a book for you. Its also a good book for those that like a good mystery set in modern times with current world events and cultures.

I don't usually read these types of books, but I am glad that I read this one! It was full of twists and turns and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire book.

While this is a work of fiction, you can just imagine some of the events happening in real life. Especially with the 'preppers' because there are shows that have proven they're out there!!

I really liked how completely chaotic (in a good day) this story could get. I loved the conspiracy theories and all the different POVs that are represented in this thrilling suspense novel. I plan on getting more into this genre of work, because it was really interesting!

This is a very captivating and unique story that needs to be read! You will be glad you did!

Skip this: read Mark Goodwin's "In The Days of Noah"

Supposedly a former teacher, I have to assume from this novel that the author was not a teacher of English, Literature or in depth research.
Choppy transitions, poorly drawn characters and surface (at times incorrect ) information regarding the Illuminati, NWO, Freemasons and Tribulation/Rapture.
Mark Goodwin does a much better job. He has some minor editing issues but not nearly as pervasive as this one. Dina Rae lost at least one star because I HATE having to rewrite sentences and paragraphs as I try to read! Grr. I always tell independents: GET AN EDITOR!!!
