I'm not entirely sure I know what this story is trying to say yet. But I liked the atmosphere and the stories within the story.

a woman goes back to her old town for a wedding and gets to indulge in an old forgotten tradition of recounting scary stories in the dark. the stories she heard very interesting and made me eager to actually read a full-length novel in that setting

A tale told in black text on white page, but for me suffused with the colours of old photographs, my own memories of being the younger cousin confused by the not quite understood stories the others told when we were meant to be asleep. I love London, despite everything, but I do miss village lore.

I'm not a fan of short stories that are themselves a collection of additional, shorter stories. This one reads like fairy tales or folklore.

A family-centered southern gothic type story. Well-written and interesting, though suffers from just HOW short it. Could have easily been expanded into a longer short story or novella and make a greater impact.
