“Let me look at you, tender beauty.”
The world of “Fletcher” was such an interesting place to explore: battles, castles, horse riding and archery, dukes, aristocrats, craftsmen and slaves. Though it was very fun to read, the conditions were so harsh even for the richest people in the story that I wouldn’t dare live in it simply because I wouldn’t be so lucky to have someone help me like Ware helped the heroine.
Lind was a great heroine, she was stubborn, bad mannered and her endless swearing always lead her to new trouble but still I admired her courage, her independence and the strength that she possessed. Even though she was a slave she was still fighting back and she was smart enough to manipulate others to achieve things or back down when she saw that she would gain more advantage this way.
“I loved him. Prissy, proud, stuck-up, ice-cold Ware. I knew it and I didn’t care. I loved every bit of him.”
Ware was also interesting, he could have been cruel but I like the fact that he might own a slave but he chose to treat her kindly and I think that whatever misguided beliefs he had about the equality of slaves with other people were simply because he had never experience life from their perspective and he had never really questioned the way his society worked.
"I loved Lind. Difficult, rude, infuriating, sweetly delicious, brave, gentle, clever Lind. She’d opened my eyes to the truth, saved my life and changed me forever."
His character development was obvious, throughout the story we can see him change and start to think for himself as he gets closer to Lind. I do think though that he changed and accepted a new way of thinking about slavery way too easily and especially towards the ending i think everything worked conveniently well for both of them and the acceptance he had from his social environment didn't match with the way he was thinking in the beginning of the book.
The best part of this book for me was Lind’s relationship with Ware, the dialogue might needed a bit more work since a lot of phrases were repeated way too much but their interactions were so funny, they kept bantering from the beginning of the book till the end, both of them too stubborn to change or submit. Their sex scenes were also pretty hot, they might have been master and slave but they were equal in bed with Lind always trying to control and manipulate Ware. In the end I loved the fact that they found a way to accept one another and despite their differences communicate and love each other.

From the bottom of my heart, I gave it my best effort. Despite my notoriously twitchy DNF finger, I made myself pick up this book again at least a half dozen times after giving it up. It took me a week just to get to 30% and I normally devour a book a day. I just couldn't be inside the heroine's headcasespace anymore. A very apologetic DNF because I really enjoy this author's quirky books and this fantasy series was so far a breath of fresh air amongst my more conventional reads.

When he returns home and finds his family has been murdered he sets out to get revenge by murdering the man responsible, Sir Ranulf. To achieve his goal he purchases Lind, a thrall (slave), with a skill necessary for him to reach inside Sir Ranulf’s lair.
Pyrdain is a world that is wild, savage and yet filled with laws that must be obeyed. There are frequent conflicts between villages and lords and areas and with these conflicts comes the need for people like Fletcher, a man who has not only the skills to make magnificent bows and almost magical arrows but who also has the skill to lead men. His skills are definitely needed throughout the story.
Lind is a woman who dreams of being free. She has been a slave to many and suffered much. Only after being with Fletcher for a while does she realize that there might be more than one way to be free and what that might require. As she and Fletcher spend time together in villages and on the road they “educate” one another in ways neither expected and in so doing become very close. Whether or not they will both survive and achieve their ultimate goals is not known for sure until near the end of the book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and its ability to take me away from the world I live in to one that is growing and becoming more real to me. It is not an easy place to live unless you are wily, strong and willing to do what it takes to survive. Pyrdain is not always light and bright and filled with joy but it does have many good moments, interesting characters, strong friendships, and some HEA stories to enjoy. I look forward to reading the next book in this series when it is finished.

A romantic quest like no other…
I heard “dark” and I couldn’t jump on this book fast enough! It is a different type of dark though. While being sexy and smart it is also brutal and violent. This is not utopia but a world that could very well be the twenty-first or the fifteenth century. It is a fantasy and a quest. A tale of revenge. It is a reminder how far we’ve come and how far we need to go in how we treat each other has men and women. As human beings. Blend that all together with clever characters and captivating writing laced with an unexpected thread of humour, and that equals a whole day spent devouring/reading this book!
“Ware Fletcher was lethal.”
“Other thralls call their masters sir.”
“Yes, but I’m not like other thralls.”
Ware and Lind are master and thrall, owner and slave. It sounds pretty cut and dry except these characters are going to be everything but what society says they should be. Ware is a respected craftsman and he uses every skill he can muster as he seeks revenge. Lind is another tool in his arsenal until she turns everything he thinks he knows right on its ear.
Ware is not a bulked up warrior but he is mighty with his bows and his intelligence. He is wiry and muscled, handsome, but none of those things are enticement to a woman who has spent her life as property. Lind is his match in brain power and cunning, though she beats almost everyone in her skill of swearing like a trucker and bucking every rule there is. They are both stubborn and resolved, until they each realize the other’s true heart…
They fight, they argue but they each have a goal in mind. They are going to use each other to achieve those goals. Seeing them move from enemies to supportive, loving partners was a journey rife with suspense, intrigue, heat and laugh out loud moments.
“Yes, he seems very emotional.”
I’m not sure what was more fun – their enthusiasm in the sack or the way they snarked and bantered out of it. Oh yes, Lind is a screamer… There are sexy scenes and tender moments to mark their non-conventional courtship and each one rang true with genuine emotion. Sometimes it was love and sometimes the exact opposite but all of it was compelling and heartfelt. I loved these characters who just kept getting better and better as they slowly became more open and vulnerable to each other. And all while kicking serious a**.
At times the mix of modern and “old” language didn’t quite mesh, was jarring in fact, but that couldn’t mar this satisfying, unique and mesmerizing tale of love and hope…

The fantasy world we are taken in might be confusing at first, but with some time, the complexity and detailed functionality find a path to the reader's heart. I found it charming, attractive, stunning. I'd like to experience living in such fantasy world.
Ware is a master arrow maker who is filled with lust for revenge after a family tragedy. Plotting his vengeance, he meets Lind, a thrall who suffered one master worse that another and her rebellious manners make her position even harder. He buys her for her skills but finds her extremely difficult to handle. Slowly their relationship develop into love as they learn to understand each other's situation.
Ware is a strong and proud character, determined, even stubborn in his quest for revenge. Lind is stubborn as much, with sharp tongue and burning desire to gain freedom, deciding what is best for her regardless the laws, survivor with a rebellious nature and strong sense of justice. They seem like a poor match, but the connection and chemistry between them is working and developing naturally. It is not much romantic, but hot and steamy scenes are frequent.
The plot is developing quicky, full of drama, adventure and sharp twists. Characters are believable and the change and development in their personalities are realistic. And the complicated fantasy world is simply awesome. Enjoyable read.

I really, really enjoyed reading A.J. Adams' Fletcher. It's the right mix of adventure, sassiness, and sexiness.
Ware Fletcher is out for revenge for the death of his family, their farm, and their shrine. He knows who did it, but he just needs to find a way to get revenge.
Then he meets Lind, climbing perfectly down the side of the building, knowing that she is the secret weapon he needs to get his revenge. She's a thrall, nothing more than a common slave who has a smart mouth and loves to swear, and hates to follow directions. Saving her from the whipping post, Fletcher tries to train her to be an obedient thrall, but Lind has other plans.
I love Lind! She refuses to conform to social norms and has a strong sense of right and wrong and wanting to help those she cares about. Ware is another amazing character with a huge sense of pride not only in himself, but in his work as well and also loves and care for those he cares about. There's also characters that you can't just help but to hate and hope they get what they deserve in the end. Let's not forget there's lots of awesome and steamy sex scenes along the way. I love how the characters change and grow throughout the book. It's quite an amazing journey!

While reading Fletcher I discovered I just had to keep reading and turning pages so I could find out what was happening. I really enjoyed this book so much so that while I had to even read it while at work on my breaks I just couldn’t put it down.
“Fletcher” is Ware Fletcher and Lind’s (a Thrall). Ware ends up buying Lind to help him with revenge against the man that killed his family. Lind turns out to be a terrible “thrall” (slave) because she would rather runaway and possibly die than to keep living as a thrall. Lind is sassy, loves to speak her own mind and she causes a lot of trouble for Fletcher. I can’t say more because you need to read this story.

This book is set in a fictional country but it is similar to our own medieval times.
Our hero is Master Ware Fletcher a famous arrow maker who has invented many different sorts of arrows with special uses. He has been away from home for several months and comes home to tragedy . That sets him on the path to vengeance.
Our heroine has been a Thrall (slave) since her parents sold her as a child. She has had many owners each new one worse than the one before. Unfortunately for her she has never learnt to behave like a proper thrall should.
This is much more an adventure than a romance but there is still plenty of sex. It is a fascinating look at the way people tried to make some sort of civilised communities before there was real law and order.
A book that drew me in from the first page to the last. Very enjoyable read.

This book was great! I loved being in the world of Prydain again! Ware and Lind are a very unlikely couple but they have a great connection and as the story progresses they both get to learn what it's like to live in each others world. Ware is on a quest and he's determined to do anything to achieve his goal but it's not easy. There are so many people who are against him he has to fight hard. Lind is just living her life the way she wants to and fighting back the only way she knows how regardless of the consequences. Both of them together are a force to be reckoned with. Can't wait to see what else comes from the Prydain world.

This had all the elements of a great book. The story was unique, involved and full of action, drama and some twists. The H was a strong, honorable Alpha male and the h was feisty, brave and unique. While the background story is explained the world AJ Adams created is complex and takes some time to understand. This is clearly a fantasy world but very well done and the characters are well developed. I love that the story is told from both the H and h point of view adding interest and insight. Looking forward the next book in the series.

Wow I feel like I just went back in time and found some long lost friends. I am not fond of reading books based in the past, but...well..WOW!! The heroine is lively, stubborn and strong. The hero is just as stubborn, strong and lively. I read this entire book in one sitting because it was so captivating!!! AJ Adams has kept me up all night yet again with spellbinding writing.

Set in medieval times,this is the story of Ware and his thrall,Lind. He's on the path of revenge when he finds her and they embark on a journey filled with danger to seek justice for what's been done to him. Written with AJ's good sense of humor,this fast paced story captures you instantly and has you cheering Ware and Lind on right 'till the end. Loved it!

Fletcher is the second book set into A.J.'s Prydain universe.
You don't need to read Beast to get into it, though it does give an edge as you'll be already familiar with the rules and customs of the world. Fletcher follows a completely different set of characters, with no prior appearances in the previous book.
Fletcher starts as a plain old tale of revenge: Ware Fletcher returns home to find it destroyed, and sets on a quest to make the person responsible pay. Along the way, he buys Lind, a rebellious thrall, as her skills could prove pivotal in his plans for revenge.
From there on, absolutely nothing goes according to plan, but tell you more might spoil some plot twists.
Prydain is a medieval fantasy world. It's not pretty, it's raw, violent and rife with inequalities. But as soon as you feel comfortable with that fact, Fletcher and Lind story might be - in my opinion - one of the sweetest romance AJ has ever built so far.
It's not instalove, it's a relationship building slowly through the obstacles they face alone and together.
Like all of AJ heroines, Lind is strong, intelligent and in her case, doesn't exactly shy at making it known, even when it can spell trouble for her. Fletcher is cunning, sometimes hotheaded, and 100% alpha. Both characters grow a lot during the novel, which could almost classify as a 'roadmovie' in terms of structure.
I really had fun reading their adventures, the snark and humor present through both main characters POV a balm for the sometimes bleak and violent world they live in.
I can't wait to see where in Prydain AJ will take us next!

Ware Fletcher is a Master Craftsman, citizen of Prydain and famous for his skill. When he returns from his travels to found his home destroyed and his family and friends gone he sets on a path to seek revenge from the rogues who razed it. Upon arriving into Caern, he meets Lind under very unusual circumstances. Foreseeing the girl will be of use to him in his plans, he buys her and saves her from certain death, but the thrall is not a meek, easy to handle slave. She’s feisty, determined and dangerous, completely set in getting her freedom at any cost.
This story is a fantasy, set up in an imaginary land. It was my first read by this author and I found myself enjoying every minute of it. Fletcher and Lind are both strong, unconventional characters, both prone to break the rules and both dealing with their demons in very different ways. Fletcher and Lind are both strong, unconventional characters, both prone to break the rules and both dealing with their demons in very different ways. I liked the slow development of their love relationship and, though it’s a story filled with the crudeness of the lifestyle of the old Viking Age conquerors, it also has the delicacy of true and tried love, strong family values and friendship.
If you like stories of knights, mild warfare and the simplistic live of yore, you will enjoy the story of Fletcher of Llanfaes and Lind of Tandwell.

Wow! Just wow! What a fan-freaking-tastic must read for fans of fiction no matter what your usual favorite genre is! ... I’m a huge contemporary fiction fan so I wasn’t sure about visiting another era, but I should have known that anything from the pen of AJ Adams would blow me away! ... "Fletcher" grabbed me from the start, kept me glued to my seat and turning pages like crazy right through to the end, then left me wanting more! ... This medieval fantasy is packed with some dark and gritty drama as well as lighter moments, lots of action and adventure with twists & turns... Not to worry, there's plenty of melt-your-kindle scenes, but I personally enjoyed the slower paced developing romance. It is so well written that when I was wrapped up in the story, I actually forgot this isn't a contemporary romance. The attention to detail & amazing descriptions bring the story to life with well defined characters... The H & h, Ware & Lind’s witty dialogue & amazing chemistry jump’s off the pages & had me cheering for them, as their forbidden love develops at a perfect pace. I was so captivated that I did not want to stop reading whenever I had to, and I loved the awesome epilogue and ending! ...I highly recommend this page-turner to all 18+ Adult fans of fiction! I voluntarily read an ecopy & all my opinions expressed here are my own without any outside influence.

I'm thrilled with this installment of AJ Adam's Prydain novels. Fletcher is witty, dark, sexy, riveting and just all around fantastic. Ms. Adams gets the mix just right in this twisted tale of one man's quest for revenge and one woman's quest for freedom.
Lind is a terrible thrall, and I totally believed her character, from her foul mouth to the way she's developed means to deal with a master's right to use his thrall in any way he chooses. The story unabashedly deals head on with issues of social justice ranging from slavery to sexual abuse to caste prejudices and greed. It covered a lot of ground, but I never felt like I was attending a lecture.
In short, from start to finish, Fletcher had me enthralled. If you don't mind a darkish tale that is oddly infused with a flare of light and hope, and aren't put off by sexual content that is at times dubious, and some quite inventive profanity, then you will enjoy Fletcher. I didn’t think I could love author AJ Adams any more than I already did, but this book just blew me away. Lind is a sarcastic, cheeky, wild and incredibly strong female. And what to say about Ware? OMG, he’s perfect absolutely perfect! Strong, smart and brooding oh and he knows how to use what the gods gave him (wink wink) HEA with a good serving of romance, sex and a just dash of angst. This author is absolutely brilliant and I will hold my breath waiting for her next book. I highly encourage you to buy this book. Don’t worry if you aren’t a historical fiction fan, it’s set in a different time in a fictional land. Some language is different, but other than that you wouldn’t even know it’s historical. 5 of Tyr’s hairy balls (stars) and 4 hands down Frayja’s Purse! (if you read the book it will make sense)

I must be honest the cover art gave me chills .....phenomenal 4 star chills !
So Fletcher cones home to find his family murdered and he swears to take revenge but he needs help and he gets in the firm of Lind .
Lind is a slave and she dreams of freedom and she soon realises that freedom comes in different forms.
Fletcher is a skilled man and he's good at warfare and would you expect anything less from a gifted swordsman ?!
Lind and Fletcher took me on quite a fantasical trip through Pyrdain and let me tell you you need to have your wits about you with all their laws and rules .
"Fletcher" is fantasy world but the characters , friend and relationships are very real . Well written with interesting characters .

In true artistic fashion author A.J. Adams brings the readers a dark and historical make believe land that only the strong can survive in. The story starts as a revenge plot to avenge the main characters family after he finds his home destroyed. As part of the MC plan he purchases a thrall (women slave) to help him play out his revenge. The adventures and horrors that follow after the initial purchase are the binding ingredients to the master and his slave's survival.

Once again A.J Adams delivers a action packed story with a feisty heroine and a delicious lead man. However this story has a clever subtle undertone throughout which really appealed to my feminist side.
I loved Lind (I adore anyone who swears like a sailor on shore leave) and Ware was a complex hero with many layers. I'd say he was A.J Adams most fully formed male leads in any of her books.
I can't wait to return to Prydain.

Fletcher is definitely an interesting and unique story. I really enjoy the world A.J. Adams has created. She does an amazing job of weaving in the most unexpected love stories. Her characters are strong and quirky, and Ware and Lind are no exception.
He’s out for revenge. She’s seen as nothing more than a common slave. Except, Ware knew right from the beginning she wasn’t quite as common as they all thought. Her specific talents may just be what he needs to get his revenge. Ware soon finds out, he’s bitten off more than he may be able to chew with Lind. She’s headstrong and full of spit and vinegar. He may be able to sugar her up enough not to be killed by her in his sleep by her, but keeping that foul mouth of hers from getting them into trouble is a whole other feat in itself.
You get alphas, humor, and romance of the unconventional kind with this read. This is definitely a highly recommended read. The Good:
Fast paced and full of adventure, with quirky and mostly likeable characters.
The Bad:
The story was a tad trite and cliche.
The writing style was all over the place, with far too many colloquialisms (such as "had a blast" or "say what?" moments) to truly fit the genre the author was going for (fantasy).
The tense (past/present/future) was also all over the place, especially with the going back and over for each viewpoint of things already seen.
The characters were fairly predictable and the story itself had little to no surprises.
The "erotica" was middle of the road, not quite actually erotic, just basic sex scenes.
HOWEVER, it was still a very enjoyable quick read for those looking to while away a few hours.

November 4, 2016I'm 15% in and have to dnf this book. I love the cover and I really fancied this book, but its not working for me.
Its an historical made up world where women are thralls and used for sex and sold when not wanted anymore.
lind is the thrall and seems strong willed considering shes a nobody in her world, her luck seems up when.she gets a new keeper Fletcher, he goes onto have sex with her the first night.
I believe it turns into a love story, I'm intrigued how love evolves in this world but not enough to continue.
I will say I'm in a reading funk/life is stressful at moment and that may be one reason I cant get into it.

At only a couple of chapters into this book, I find myself really liking Fletcher. He is an enigma within an enigma within an enigma. It is very interesting to watch how his mind works and processes. How he overcomes potential adversity with gentle words, spoken softly even with a hard glint in his eyes. Watching people become extremely fearful of him, until one thing is mentioned and then he is like a brother to them is awe inspiring. It is interesting watching how he acquires Lind. Who is she? What does he want her for? What is he after? Why is a fletcher from Llanfaes doing in Caern and on his way to Tanweld? What is in As things progress and Ware Fletcher makes Lind his Assistant, he is talking with Constable Eward. My most favorite part of this book was this... Eward collapsed in laughter. "Wotan's balls, Ware! He's already been round to scream about our deal! He's going to have a heart attack when he hears of this!" and of course Ware's response of "Yes, he seems very emotional." I was in STITCHES for a bit after that. You really need to read the book to find out what was going on, what the deal that was made and what Eward has just been told by Ware that will give the Guild Steward apoplexy. Heck, just read the book. It is so much fun!
