Having grown up with comic book versions of the Bible for kids, I found this book to be a pleasant discovery.
'A long time ago, long before the creation of humans, came the creation of angels. Like two single drops of water separating themselves from the rest of the ocean, beings were born with the body of God.'
And so begins this interesting journey. What may appear to be just a retelling of divine creation is actually an original and highly accomplished blend of theology and fiction. It is a story that encourages reflection on human conflicts through the lens of heavenly ones. Here, an angelic rebellion led by Lucifer against God's laws escalates into a battle between good and evil.
The black-and-white illustrations in this graphic novel are extraordinary. Mano Sotelo is a truly talented artist. I am delighted to have had the opportunity to read his work.
