William M. | 4 comments I'm looking to connect with fellow authors who are interested in forming a small group where we read and review each other's books. This would be genuine reader support, not some review swap where everyone automatically gives five stars, but actual readers giving honest feedback and reviews.
Services like Amazon Vine charge astronomical fees for what amounts to paid reviews, often $500 to $1000 or more. Many of us write in different genres, which means we can offer fresh reader perspectives to each other. Building genuine readership and getting authentic reviews helps all of us grow as authors. I'm envisioning a small group of maybe eight to ten authors who commit to reading at least one book per month from the group. We'd post honest reviews on Goodreads and Amazon, with three stars or higher only if genuinely earned. I think a mix of genres would be welcome since variety makes for interesting reading, and we could focus on constructive feedback that helps us all improve our craft.
This isn't about gaming the system. It's about authors supporting authors through actual readership. We all know how hard it is to get those first genuine reviews, especially when we're competing against expensive promotion services. If you're interested, comment below with your genre, how many books you could realistically read and review per month, and whether you're traditionally published, self-published, or hybrid. Let's build something based on mutual support rather than expensive shortcuts.
