Here are some examples of non-socketed CPUs that are usually soldered down. The use of BGA surface mount technology is customary and these chips are often found in lower-end computers and mobile devices. These have often be desoldered without care, hence may look a little worse-for-wear.
Intel Atom Z3737G (SR1UD) 1.33GHz BGA592
This chip was extracted from my HP Stream 8 Tablet which failed.
AMD E1-7010 (EM7010IUJ23JB) 1.5GHz BGA769 (FT3b)
This chip was desoldered from the non-functioning Lenovo H30-05 that had failed. Unfortunately, the heat delaminated the top surface slightly resulting in the bubbly appearance which is not normal.
