EUGENE ONEGIN THE OPERA MOVIE (1958)
The Return of the Opera King woooooooooooooooooooo
A world-famous classic written by Tchaikovsky, based on the eponymous poem by Pushkin, brought to life in a shortened movie form by joint efforts of professional singers, actors, brilliant operators work, costumes and scenery - everything was made perfect! This is undeniably a classic among opera enjoyers, with the great casting of our favourite characters and cozy russian vibes. The main hero, Eugene Onegin who's played by Vadim Medvedev, is an aristocrat and dandy who’s gotten weary of Petersburg’s splendour - he suffers from melancholy and boredom at his countryside house. By chance he befriended Lensky, a young passionate poet, and joined him in his visits to the local landowner Larina and her daughters, Olga and Tatiana. Where will these new acquaintances lead? You probably already know, and if not, there'll be friendship, there'll be feelings, there'll be drama and tragedy and other classical opera plot twists - all beautifully directed, acted out and sung.
If you want to check out this Classic with English subtitles (done by yours truly), join the watch this Saturday 5th of February at 10pm Moscow time (or at 8pm GMT+1) on Hyperbeam; i'll reblog this post with the link to the stream 20 minutes before the start.
