Is tasked to find, rescue, and protect Martin Septim, priest of Akatosh and unknowing bastard heir to the Ruby Throne and the final entry in the long line of the dragon-blooded Septim dynasty.
Their fondness for one another comes all too easily. Waelin is almost immediately smitten with the priest, enamored by his kind heart and sweet words. The feelings are soon returned by Martin, his interest bolstered by the devotion displayed by the Champion during their time together. They grow a dependency to one another, as the task of ending the Oblivion Crisis falls on their shoulders alone. But having been operating under an honor-bound knightly code his entire life, the idea of falling in love with the Emperor’s son is regarded with great shame in Waelin’s mind. But no matter how he tries to thwart his own feelings, he could not even once bring himself to resist Martin’s advances.
Their love is an uneasy one in the beginning, blemished by unfortunate circumstances and a mutual confusion of priority. Do they follow the shared song of their hearts? Or focus on their duties at hand? What may lay in the future, if Martin was truly to be Emperor? Was their relationship even worth pursuing, given all that may go wrong?
And yet, it all seems to wash away in the night as they lie together. In those moments alone, between the countless errands Waelin is sent on, and the laborious deciphering of the Mysterium Xarxes Martin endures. In this space shared only between them, in each others arms, the lingering fear of the future fades away- if just for one night at a time.
