I live in a household of JUST women. And we praise each other for household tasks all the time.

Did the dishes? 'Omg thank you so much!'

Put the laundry away? 'You're a huge help!'

Hoovered the place? 'Everywhere looks and smells so good, thank you!'

We know this all 'needs doing,' but we also know that chores are a pain in the ass. So, by showing appreciation, we acknowledge that someone else gave up their time and energy to do them *free of charge.*

The kind of person who ignores the struggles of others but demands praise when they do the same thing are just assholes.

And the kind of person who does said task 'as poorly as humanly possible' and STILL wants to be praised for doing that thing ONCE as an adult are assholes that have found a way to weaponize their incompetence into a punishment for the people they think 'should' be doing the task instead of them.
