I’m seeing a lot of people say Wake Up Dead Man doesn’t feel like a movie about Catholicism, and I feel that is missing the point. Yes, the movie isn’t about mainstream Catholicism, not at all. But that’s the point. It’s about a rural American tradcath church, which breaks away from the traditional Catholic path to blindly follow a priest as their de facto cult leader. The “normal” Catholics at the beginning of the movie even warn Jud about going there because of this. It isn’t meant to be a representation of traditional, mainstream Catholicism, but the Catholicism that has caught on in right wing, redpilled, MAGA America, and that’s the point.

I don't think I'll get over how deeply Phil Lester loves

How he willingly went back into the closet so Dan didn't have to come out until he was ready

How he stayed through the darkest depths of Dan's fear and depression even when he didn't understand

How he stuck with their relationship even when the internet was tearing Dan apart

How he supported Dan's solo career loudly and often, even when it wore on him to be away from his person for so long

How he gently, slowly, kindly whispered in Dan's ear that their audience was good now, and that he would be welcomed back to their joint content with open arms

How, at the end of it all, when Dan apologized for years of struggle, Phil says he doesn't need to forgive. He accepted all of Dan, all the highs and lows.

Phil Lester loved so much, he was willing to accept whatever Dan was willing to give, no matter what.

May we all find love and grace and acceptance so beautiful as how deeply Phil Lester loves his Dan

I’m just an easy mark for dumb pilot humor. Today the captain was like “we’re now at altitude, feel free to move around, my one rule is you must stay inside the plane” and I lost it. It’s funny because you would die a horrible death akin to standing unencumbered on Pluto
