amazing how this 3,700 year old Babylonian legal code is making more sense than our current justice system

Maria Skłodowska-Curie's notebooks are crazy once you think about it. They're so radioactive they have to be sealed in a lead box. Imagine a world where atomic theory is forgotten and a dude just goes "yea there's a book that details the secrets of the universe, the machinations of the creation of existence down to its barest essentials, but if you get close to it you fucking die. The more you read it the more your body slowly disassembles into mush." like wat excuse me

I am a gender abolitionist and I think even if my wishes were realized and we got a world without gender people would still want to transition, they would just describe the process differently.

"I want to have soft skin and boobs" rather than "I want to be a cute girl", for example.

I wanna fuck you like a centipede

Blogger's Note: Centipedes reproduce by the male leaving a spermatophore (sperm packet) on the ground for the female to pick up - no intercourse is involved.

Main post screenshotted here in case it gets yanked; the whole thread is worth a read.

Here, let me reach into the caecilian bucket and pull some out for you...

Two-colored Caecilian (Epicrionops bicolor), family Rhinatrematidae, found in disjunct populations in Ecuador, Peru, and Colombia

  • Caecilians are amphibians, like salamanders and frogs.
  • They are not worms, nor are they snakes.
  • Most species are fossorial (burrowing), but some are aquatic.

Ringed Caecilian (Siphonops annulatus), family Siphonopidae, found in tropical South America, east of the Andes

  • The young go through the larval stage in the eggs, and hatch out as fully formed tiny caecilians.
  • The young of this species feed on their mother’s outer skin layer (which she sheds). It has a high nutrient content.
  • Like many caecilians, their skin exudes a thick slime, which aids in burrowing, but also has toxic components (presumably to protect from predation).

It’s not child abuse if it’s myself.

Every staple crop activates my brain in such a primal way. No wonder we centered our communities around this shit ten thousand years ago. Rice, wheat bread, potatoes, corn and their related products? That shit slaps in a way that non-staple domesticated food WISHES it could.

I’ve been thinking lately about gorgons with caecilians for hair instead of snakes—potentially a subterranean variant?

I love caecilians so much—not only are they adorable, but they display a fascinating array pf behaviors and traits not frequently seen in amphibians (yes they’re amphibians). :D
