PS I have a bluesky now but I think I forgot to post it
Just voicing some random thoughts since I reblogged that thing about Crystal.
You guys remember that one lil sequence in Crystal season 3 where Ami jumps off the building into water to then re-emerge as Sailor Mercury and how that was unironically a fucking great scene and concept?
Made me think of other fun and creative ways each of the girls can transform as a quick cut, which involve their powers and/or elements that are naturally found around them.
Just like I'm imagining now Makoto walking sternly inside a building at night or on a cloudy day, only illuminated by the lights above the hallway. At first the lights are on, then they start to flicker only to shut off entirely for a second and then come back on, illuminating who's now Sailor Jupiter who's still walking with determination.
Or there's some sort of fire already present in the scene, say like a building's on fire and Rei has yet to transform. Having her keep walking as Rei into the fire (given there's no witnesses present ofc) and then keeping on the shot of her walking through the fire as a mere sketched black figure only to emerge as Sailor Mars trailing ashes and smoke behind her. Giving a casual hair toss to shake off any excess dust or debris.
Or even with Minako, maybe in a movie set or television station, having the shot still, focused on a bright film light standing on the ground in the middle of the shot. Mina walking past it. Before passing it she's simply just Mina, but as soon as she cuts through the light, it reduces her figure to a vague shadow. Very briefly flashing the screen only to clearly emerge as Sailor Venus once she's past it
I don't know this may be the dumbest shit ever and cringe, but I like stuff like this and I like thinking about shots and compositions cause I'm obsessed.
