Servant: Your highness, a party of adventurers has answered your call for help.

King: Excellent. What are they like?

Servant: One of them is a dragon-lady.

King: Interesting. Those are rare around these parts.

Servant: Another is a goblin paladin.

King: Not a role you usually see goblins in.

Servant: A third is a purple-skinned tiefling.

King: I didn't even know they come in that color.

Servant: The last one is a sapient gelatinous cube.

King: What. How did these four even meet?

Servant: They met in a tavern two hours ago, apparently.

Queen: My love, please return to bed.

King: *pacing* Why would a gelatinous cube come to a tavern? Can it even get drunk? How did it fit through the doors?

I’m seeing a bunch of posts that make me think most USAmericans don’t know about The No Surprises Act.

It was passed in 2021 (thank you Biden) and essentially states that if you don’t have insurance or your insurance doesn’t cover a service you need (or want) you are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of care. (If your insurance does cover the service, you should be able to estimate the cost of care based on your deductible and co-pay.)

As a healthcare provider who does not accept any insurance, I am very careful to not violate The No Surprises Act. Why? Because for every penny more than $400 that the Good Faith Estimate was “off” (or if it wasn’t provided), you are entitled to a refund for that amount.

Y’all. Ask for a Good Faith Estimate. Get it in writing. Compare it to what you are paying. If you are not provided an estimate or if it’s wrong by more than $400, demand a refund.

I’m reforging this for the second time in five minutes because I needed to add that part of this is also about what your health insurance provider is required to do. They’re required to tell you what your out of pocket cost will be. If you contact them and they say actually they don’t know but your copay is X%, you can ask them to call the provider and get the codes they plan to use to bill for your services. If the provider is in network they’ll have negotiated rates in place so the insurer will know exactly how much you can be charged for that service and then they have to tell you. No surprise huge medical bills even if you are insured.

Adding onto this. If you have a surgical procedure that involves anesthesia, the No Surprises Act also accounts here. Most anesthesia companies/providers are OON (out of network) with most, if not all insurances. If your service is performed in an in-network facility, they are REQUIRED to bill as in-network due to this law.

This alongside demanding an itemized bill for any and all hospital stays, surgeries, and procedures, including the outpatient ones.

[guy whose bedtime is approaching fast] I need to write one billion words right now. and draw everything that has ever existed.

I don’t want to hear any writing advice from Stephen king not because I think there would be no value in it but because whatever works for Stephen king is between him and god and that demon he made a pact with that lets him write 3000 words in one sitting daily.

Stephen King once blacked out for several days and wrote Cujo, the pact cant be healthy

There's a Worm AU out there where Taylor joins the Wards on that first night and it's not like a week later Armsmaster has started smoking and is forcing Taylor and Sophie to wear the get along shirt for a day while Missy or Dean are forced to try and set up opportunities for them to hang out and get along

Armsmaster when told he can't go to the ocean floor to fight Leviathan and instead has to deal with whatever incident Weaver and Shadow Stalker's patrol just caused that's resulted in 3 Ward hospitalizations with 0 known villains on scene

My favorite form of redemption arc is “I hate that I have morals now”

Like “I realized that I was in the wrong and now I will work hard to atone” is good and all, but “how dare you infect me with morals” will always be so much more entertaining

That moment the former baddie starts to walk away from some bad situation, almost gets out, and then just stops, curses, and turns around to go help?

*chef’s kiss* delicious

This one gets it

Being someone who physically just, doesnt get the ability to sleep even if kinda tired until later unless youre extremely sleep deprived fucking sucks

Because not only does it turn really early morning wakeups into a sleel debt thatll take a bit to fix, and mean youre struggling with that for halfway early wakeups days in a row, but also like. People just dont really understand it if you explain?

Youll say "Yeah long as I can remember I havent been able to really fall asleep and stay asleep until around 11-1 depending. Sometimes if im really tired I can take a 30 minute nap, but theres a point where my body refuses to do that. This has been an issue for so long my mom made me take melatonin every night starting in 3rd grade, and I continued doing so until someone else told me it wasnt supposed to cause hallucinations in 8th grade and I stopped without telling her because being constantly sleep deprived actually felt better"

And then someone will look at you with out any ill will in their heart and say "have you tried going to bed earlier? Maybe not using any screens after a certain time would help"

You know technology literacy is dying because I saw this meme with 76k likes

F11 the full screen button? You’re scared of the full screen button? F10?? It opens the menu bar???

Computers are so scary what if I accidentally hit F12 in a steam game and it takes a screenshot. What if I press shift + F12 while in word and accidentally save my document 😖

If you had to learn what the F keys on your computer do through me reblogging this post, then I'm glad you did. Computer literacy is not a skill that gets taught anymore, and it is absolutely one that needs to be taught in order to be learned. Don't ever feel bad for not knowing something, but ☝️ don't ever stop learning learning about your environment, the tools you use, and especially the people around you

Might fuck around and paper my town with these. Feel free to join me.

Would you be willing to post the files for these so we can have the best quality copy for printing purposes?

Here's a folder with the files! I couldn't get the last one to PDF correctly with the image, so it's still text.

Just a reminder from me (a military brat) and my parents (both military from military families): The most definitive way to know a recruiter is lying to you is to listen closely to what they're saying. If you hear sounds, they're lying.
