Eh, while it’s great that these characters are independent, something about all these princesses of color not finding love at the end of their movies rubs me the wrong way. Just like how Disney patted itself on the back for a black princess but she was Frogger damn near the whole movie.

And it would’ve been a great opportunity to cast moc in romantic roles from that culture :/

But I do like it because it deviates from the norm

It might be cool if they had dudes in the movie who were interested and they had the princesses be like, “naw, I got shit to do, but maybe later!”

Cause then it would obviously be a choice, instead of a worldstate that WoC don’t get hetero love (I’m not even gonna wish for queer love).

This is actually a good example of the need for intersectional feminism.

This is because of the history of social devaluation of woc and infantilization of white women.

This is low key racist. Because they gave us decades of white girls falling in love until everyone got sick of it. And when they started creating princesses of color suddenly none of them want love? I guess it’s so easy now to create ‘independent’ princesses because they don’t think women of color deserve love anyway. Why not appease the white girls while reinforcing this stereotype, kill two birds with one stone!

A Gintama chapter a day keeps the ending away...Lesson 505

MY 15 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN LESSON 505:

One of the BEST chapters featuring one of the BEST fights in one of the BEST arcs in Gintama. Omg, CHILLS TO THE MAX every time I see this fight. Years in the making for me…it was everything I hoped for and wanted.

1) It started out awesome already, with Sougo splitting a dude in half.

2) Every time I see Okita fight, I fangirl like crazy. I wish we saw him dance like this more often.

3) Kinda felt bad for the nameless dude who got his head smashed in by his own ally, but that was a damn good entrance by Kamui.

4) They meet cute.

5) And lest we forget, Takasugi is pretty damn deadly cool too. But I’m glad we only diverted to his part for quick second cuz this was allll about Kamui and Okita.

6) This maniac. 

7) Two sides of the same coin…hmm, that sounds familiar…hard to imagine WHY I would ship them.

8) Sougo’s eyes. I love how they convey threat and slight insanity at the same time…kinda like Kamui’s eyes.

9) It began, and I screamed like a crazy person because it’s just so fucking COOL.

10) I mean, look at that. Just look at that! 

11) Omg, this moment….love love LOVE. Love how it matters later on too. 

12) First time I saw them fight, I didn’t even realize I was clenching my teeth until the end when my jaw began to ache. Seeing it in the anime for the first time made me do the same thing. I just wish their fight lasted longer. It was over wayyyyy too soon.

13) I thought for a sec Okita would actually have to face off against Abuto…and I was both excited and worried.

14) I loved how casual and nonchalant their conversation was as if Kamui didn’t have a pipe embedded in him. That’s why I don’t even get worried anymore when Kamui gets stabbed with something, he obviously is capable of just walking it off.

15) Daunting moment but thank the gods Zenzou appeared and saved Sougo’s butt. I honestly don’t think he would have done well in this fight considering his condition.

SHIPS TALLY:

Okita x Kamui: I don’t think I would ever stop shipping them even though I think they are meant for others. They’re just so freaking FUN and EXCITING and ADORABLE together! I can’t help it. 

Okita x Kagura: he was thinking of his China girl even when he was about to face down her brother, aka his future bro-in-law. Sure, I ship him with Kamui, but as I mentioned above, the person I believe he is meant to be with is of course Kagura-chan.

Disclaimer: Gintama is not only about shipping. Gintama is hilarious, clever, exciting, poignant, heart-breaking, loving, brilliant, and just so freaking amazing.  It is only due to Sorachi-sama’s generosity that I can enjoy Gintama on yet another level, the shippy level, and I am forever grateful for that.
