I'm going to be scratching at the surface of this, but when I use the term "calculated" when describing Israel’s genocidal tactics, I'm not using it arbitrarily. Military violence is in fact based on a lot of calculations, and here I don't mean figurative estimations but rather actual mathematical formulas.
The first example that comes to mind is from the Iraq war, where "the number of anticipated civilian deaths was carefully appraised beforehand in a calculation known as the collateral damage estimate".
A mathematical calculation was needed in order to determine the extent of casualties following US attacks. "The magic number was 30", meaning if the number of expected civilians killed in a US attack was ≥30, Rumsfeld or Bush had to sign off on the attack. Whereas if the number was less than 30, it was an automatic go-ahead.
This degree of dehumanisation is basically seen as setting a threshold so that military lawyers and humanitarian law can be able to determine what's “lawful” and what's "collateral civilian death".
Now of course this is something applied by Israel as well, where, for instance, formulas are created to predict the number of people necessary to be killed by Israel in order for a Palestinian organisation to be eliminated. One equation was created by Itzhaq Ben Israel, then chairman of Israel's space agency, in 2002. It goes: Q=1–(q ln q + 1/q ln 1/q), where Q stands for the probability of the collapse of the Palestinian organisation and q is the percentage of killings necessarily done by Israel. You can find the breakdown of it here.
Israel doesn't stop there. With its siege on Gaza since 2007, it relied heavily on daily calculations to enforce its blockade. You've likely heard about the Red Lines documents, in which Israel calculates the amounts of food allowed into Gaza through rationing calories using the following formulas:
These calculations usually use a "humanitarian minimum" threshold determined by lawyers, scientists, engineers, humanitarian experts, etc. Based on these thresholds, the formulas and equations also seep into things like the amount of electricity Gaza would receive. For example, in 2008 Israel would reduce the current supplied by each powerline by 5% every week for months to test how low the minimum threshold can be.
When Gaza's power plant required 3.5 million litres of diesel to work at full capacity, Israel's high court decided that the "humanitarian minimum" was 2.2 million litres, reducing the plant's operation to 68%, forcing Gaza to undergo routine blackouts (details here). Israel then reduced it to 1.5 million litres which affected fresh water supply, crops, and decreased sewage pumping, resulting in the sewage treatment plant to overflow and for millions of litres of raw sewage to pour into the Mediterranean for days, after which of course Israel decided to increase the amount of diesel allowed in as that started to affect Israeli beaches.
So yea, they may call it "calculating the economy of the violence" or "proportionality principles". But it's murder. It's genocide. It's incremental and it's grotesque.
For three days I've been battling this illness alone. A severe case of the flu has exhausted me; my weak body can't take it anymore. The cough won't subside, and my fever worsens day by day. I haven't slept a wink, not only because of the illness, but also because my bed is completely soaked with rainwater. I sleep on the cold floor, wet, shivering, and in pain.
I can't eat anymore. Every bite hurts; my throat is inflamed, and my stomach is empty. I went looking for medicine, something to ease this pain, but it was too expensive, so I returned empty-handed, suffering in silence.
The pain has become unbearable; I even wish for death. There's no rest at night, no medicine during the day, and I can't endure any longer. Every passing moment feels like my last. My only wish is that my voice reaches everyone who can help me by donating so I can buy medicine and repair our torn tent. Please donate and don't abandon us.
Please help my friend Ahmed. I beg you to send him survival funds as soon as possible. I am so afraid for him
Please do whatever you can!

Please help Ahmed and his family so they can afford medicine
This image isn't just a fleeting news item; it's part of our daily reality in Gaza. While thousands of trucks loaded with tents, blankets, food, and medicine are held outside the Strip, prevented from entering by the Israeli occupation, we face a humanitarian catastrophe that worsens day by day. We die here every moment. We suffer constantly, and everyone ignores what we're going through.
I was injured more than 600 days ago. Shrapnel from the bombing of our house, while we were inside, is still embedded in my body. I'm still injured and unable to receive proper treatment because of the siege and the lack of medical supplies. The pain is constant, but what's worse than the pain is the feeling that we're forgotten and that everyone is ignoring what we're going through. We constantly ask for help, and everyone ignores us.
My family and I are very ill now due to the winter storm that began yesterday in Gaza. Because of this winter, we haven't been able to recover due to the lack of medicine and shelter from these recurring storms. Our tent is torn and leaking rainwater and cold air. Worse still, all our blankets and pillows are soaked. We urgently need to buy medicine and treatments, but they are very expensive because the occupation prevents the entry of medicine into Gaza. Therefore, we desperately need your help by donating so we can buy these medicines quickly. Please donate.
Worse still, I have a runny nose and severe sneezing. When I sneeze, it feels like the metal fragments (stuck in my body) are moving inside me, and I experience excruciating pain in the affected areas and my wounds. Please help me so I can buy my medication as soon as possible. Please donate.
please donate
Please give what you can to help Fadel get medicine, and help he and his family survive the seige and the dangerous weather
I am very ill right now. When I sneeze, it feels like metal fragments are moving around inside me. I am extremely tired. I just sneezed, and my wounds and injured areas are in excruciating pain. I don't know how long this pain will last. Please help me by donating so I can have my surgery as soon as possible and buy my medication. Please donate.
Please help my friend Fadel. He needs care urgently. No one should have to suffer like this. Please donate if you can.

No one understands what's happening…relentless, hysterical bombing since dawn until now.
Gaza is collapsing once again, and fear fills the streets and tents.
Explosions are hitting everywhere schools, homes, and even tents are not spared.
Everything is being targeted, as if they’ve decided to erase all signs of life here.
People are running, children are screaming, and shelters are nothing but a distant dream.
A “ceasefire”? Just empty words that mean nothing here.
The war never really stopped it was just catching its breath and now it's back, more brutal than ever.
Who will stop this hell?
Who will prevent the next massacre?
We’re living every moment as if it’s our last, while the world just watches.
I will not forgive anyone who sees this post and does not support me with a single word and ignores me.
I’m writing this with tears in my eyes. I can’t carry this anymore. I am completely exhausted because of my sister’s severe anemia and malnutrition.

Time is merciless, and my sister is running out of breaths. Please donate now—do not wait. Your contribution today can stop this story from ending in loss.
Settler-colonial projects will always lie and break treaties and agreements. They make up their own rules and then break them constantly. The ceasefire agreement Israel signed in October is no exception. Here are five promises made, and what their behavior has actually been.
Every time Israel blocks aid, the cost of food surges. This forced scarcity is a major driver of starvation in Gaza.
Since the ceasefire agreement, Israelis have blocked well over half of aid trucks, and now they are banning thirty-seven organizations from providing aid in Gaza.
Already the people of Gaza are feeling the impacts of this. My friend Ahmed told me, "we have been hungry for 3 or 4 days because food prices have increased due to the border closures."
Ahmed (@ahmedaldani333, gazavetters #198) is still a growing teenager. He needs healthy, filling food. His body is still recovering from the effects of malnutrition after the previous blockade. This return to the price of food soaring is dangerous and psychologically traumatic.
His entire family is living in a tent that has been subject to repeated flooding, and they have been struggling to recover from sickness. The dramatic increase in the price of food means that now money that could have gone to medicine, warm clothing, or travel to receive needed medical care will have to be used just to prevent starvation.
Please help my friend Ahmed. His family has been suffering all winter, through the cold winds and flooding, in a tattered tent. They are struggling to get food and medicine--the most basic needs for survival. Please help them.
Please donate if you can!

Please do what you can to help Ahmed and his family
If you have anything you can give, please do. Every donation helps relieve his sickness and hunger. Every donation sustains his hope of survival for another week. It matters. It really does.
asking "what's in your pants"/"what genitals do you have" is a different question than asking what you were assigned at birth. (not everyone assigned into a sexgender category at birth has the same bodily morphology at birth, let alone at any other point in their life.)
asking what you were assigned at birth is a different question than asking whether you are transfeminized. (neither cis nor trans men are transfeminized populations, and these two groups of men were definitionally given different sexgender assignments at birth.)
if you are openly entering the discussion as a trans man, or self-identifying as "afab" you are already volunteering your sex assigned at birth and your relationship to transmisogyny. literally even if someone wanted to know, they wouldn't need to ask anything.
discussing people's relationship to transmisogyny has literally no connection to genitals, therefore, accusing transfems of "asking about your genitals" to socially punish them for using tme/tma terminology is very transparently transmisogynistic sexual harassment.

This is not a figment of the imagination…this is a picture of a reality unfolding now, behind walls, far from cameras and the spotlight. Thousands of Palestinian prisoners languish in jails, many without trial: children, doctors, students, parents…their bodies shackled, their pain unheard. They are not asking for the impossible. They are asking the world to know that they are human beings…and that their lives matter.
I am one of them. One of those whose voices have yet to be heard. Over 550 days ago, our house was bombed while we were inside. I survived, but pain hasn't left my body. I was hit by shrapnel that remains embedded to this day, moving with every breath and waking me with every pain when I move in my sleep.
My surgery should have been done a long time ago… but the occupation destroyed all the hospitals, and due to limited resources, the siege, and the lack of support, I haven't been able to receive treatment yet. I urgently need to buy my monthly medications and travel to have my surgery as soon as possible…
Please help Fadel afford the medicine he needs to survive, every bit counts
Please stop what you're doing now. Stop eating, we're hungry. Stop having fun, we're sad. Stop watching the matches, we've lost our schools. We're only asking to leave the Gaza Strip and live our lives in safety and peace, without killing, hunger, and destruction.
Please help my friend Fadel. He deserves healthcare, medicine, food, warmth, and rest just like everyone. It is the brutality of genocide that denies him access to these things for so long. Please do what you can to help him raise the funds he needs to survive.
We are not just numbers in UN reports; we are human beings—families, children, and mothers waiting for a morsel to stave off hunger. As you can see in this picture, hunger in Gaza is no longer a looming threat, but a daily reality.

Please help my friend Ahmed. He is a teenager and hasn’t eaten in days. He has been exposed to the cold in nothing but a tent all winter. Please send him some funds for food and warm clothing as soon as you can ❤️
Why must I watch everything around me crumble? My future, my life, my education, my home, my time, my loved ones, my friends—everything is being destroyed. Nothing is left. All this because of a war that took everything from me.
While everyone else sits comfortably in their centrally heated homes or at their beloved jobs, I sit wondering why all this happened to me. Why must I stay awake all night in the cold, fear, and darkness Why ?
After being a vibrant, energetic, and hopeful person with a bright future ahead of me, everything has now been shattered. My biggest dream is simply to stay alive and seek help to support myself and my family and escape this situation. Adding to my distress is my father's illness (cancer), which requires urgent treatment, otherwise, God forbid, we will lose him. Just thinking about all this makes me choose death, but then I ask myself, if I die, will anything change? Will my family's situation improve? Will my father recover? Of course not. My family and I have pinned so much hope on this place, and I've come to ask for help. Please, if you are able, help me and my family. I would be very grateful.
Help Nader!!!! The situation is urgent. Do what you can. Love y’all.
Please, everyone, stand up to help Nader. Donate, share, do anything to help.
Please consider my suffering. Please donate.
Please help my friend Nader if you can. His whole family depends on these donations to pay for the cost of rent, food, medicine, and supplies.

As of the new year, Israel is banning 37 independent nongovernmental organizations from working alongside Palestinians to provide aid and care to those suffering, stating that they must cease operations by March 1st.
All of these organizations provide vital aid, but some provide healthcare workers who directly keep the injured, malnourished, and disabled alive. Médecins Sans Frontières currently provides funding and international staff for:
- 6 hospitals
- 2 field hospitals
- 8 primary health centers, clinics, and medical points
- 2 stabilization centers helping children with severe malnutrition
- birth care for a third of infants born in the city
I am extremely fearful for what the banning of international doctors from Gaza will mean. There are already not enough. Israel has continuously targeted the infrastructure, workers, and supplies that sustain healthcare in Gaza, and 95% of all hospitals are damaged or destroyed. None are fully operational.
My friend Fadel suffers from his injuries sustained from Israel's bombing of his home. The medical infrastructure is so destroyed that there are no hospitals in Gaza who can remove the shrapnel from him. Come this spring, there will be even fewer doctors to respond to these critical injuries.
Fadel (@fadel-dani, gazavetters #197) is diagnosed with thalassemia (a blood disorder) and severely anemic. He needs medication every month to treat this condition. He has needed to be hospitalized multiple times in 2025 while trying to survive this genocide.
Last post I will do about this for a while (but I have a feeling we will be talking about this for a long time) but also notice that all the charges against Maduro are for drugs and whatever else. None of them are about human rights. If the US truly cared about human rights and was willing to use force about it, it would have toppled Saudi Arabia or Israel. None of this is about democracy, human rights, or a better future for Venezuela. If you think otherwise you are deluding yourself. The US will destroy your country and leave it to the dogs.
I write this post as a friend of Abdul Rahman,
with a heavy heart because of what I see around me.
The recent attacks, chaos, and kidnapping of the president in Venezuela have shaken the world and reminded us how fragile life becomes when violence and insecurity prevail.
The world is watching, grieving, and showing solidarity… and this is a human right.
But there is another kind of pain that doesn't receive enough attention.
The pain of a friend of mine from Gaza. Abdul Rahman lives with daily anxiety no less intense, as his mother is battling cancer,
and urgently needs chemotherapy that cannot be postponed.
Time is running out, the disease doesn't wait, and his family's financial resources are no longer sufficient to continue the treatment. Just as chaos and violence destroy lives, the lack of medicine threatens a mother's life, and today Abdul Rahman's mother is fighting the disease in silence. I write this because I know him well, and I know how broken he is and how he is forced to ask for help, but there is no other option when a mother's life is at stake. Please, any donation, no matter how small, any share of this appeal, could make a real difference to a family in Gaza, and could keep a mother alive. Don't leave Abdul Rahman alone in this difficult ordeal. Solidarity isn't just words… sometimes it's saving a life. 💔
I write these words with indescribable helplessness… My mother’s condition has deteriorated, and she is now in the hospital. There is no treatment available; her hemoglobin has dropped to 7, and the doctors had to give her a blood transfusion to save her life. But the only real solution is chemotherapy.
My mother has a chemotherapy session next Saturday, and we urgently need 700 euros to cover the cost.
Any delay could endanger her life. I fear losing my mother simply because we cannot afford her treatment. Please, any donation or sharing could be the reason my mother’s life is saved.Don’t leave us alone… 💔
Please save my friend's mother's life! A donation and share would help the most
If you can please donate!
