Trivia: Johden do not have surnames as such. The nearest thing to a surname for them would be adding “of the xx Tribe” after their names. On the other hand, every Johden has a formal battlename, which they receive during their graduation ceremony and, for all official purposes, replaces their birthname. It is not strange for Hano to be referred to and called Danthula by his fellow Johden. In fact, many Johden grow so accustomed and attached to their battlenames, they will relinquish their birthnames altogether.

Trivia: Among the countries that make up the Imperial Capital, Johden is one of the oldest. Located deep within the Ashen desert, Johden has always been isolated from external political and cultural influences. Their society is rooted in ancient traditions and a militaristic lifestyle, with “honor” at the core of all their ideologies.

Role: BotJ protagonist

Trivia: Because of the interest shown by the fandom towards the drama’s Johden characters, Totes launched a spin-off titled “Blood of the Johden” (BotJ), which fans simply refer to as the Johden Arc. While the main drama airs weekly, BotJ is released in a mini-series format, with short seasons comprised of longer episodes, but also longer gaps between airings.

Personality: born without a sense of humor and raised with little in the sense of fun, Hano tends to take everything seriously and literally.

And now some fun fact about the Prancing - ahem - I mean, Dancing Dagger. Because even Mr. Brood & Sulk needs a laugh once in a while.

FUN FACT #1

Apart from lacking a sense of humor, Hano also lacks a sense of fashion. Despite this, he heavily criticized the costume that Director Dernol had originally designed for him. In Hano’s words, it was “unrealistic, impractical and generally lacking spikespun”, making it “dishonorable” to be worn by a Johden. Hano refused to wear it, so the shooting was done in the clothes he was wearing at the time. Amidst tears of frustration and unpaid overtime, the dressmakers remade all the costumes for BotJ to match Hano’s outfit. And this is why, to this day, Hano does not change to a different outfit when acting.

FUN FACT #2

Johden are known for loving their spice, and it’s common for dishes to come heaped with reckless amounts of chili and pepper. Hano is an exception and has a hard time handling the heat. He’ll try his best to keep up appearances though, a feat he mostly manages thanks to Mune, who will secretly change all his orders to “extra mild”.

FUN FACT #3

The Johden guards, who make up the majority of the set’s security, all look down on Hano, to one degree or the other. This is because Hano has only earned 3 blood pearls so far, an amount that for his age is considered shameful by Johden standards. Zanas suggested he add some fake ones, a proposal that left Hano appalled. What truly “dishonorable” behavior that would be!

Trivia: to Johden, blood pearls are their most prized possession. When a Johden accomplishes a feat deemed worthy of honor, they will be allowed to wear a pearl as tangible proof. Johden have to dive for their own pearls, a task which they call “fetching”, and from which many never return.
