Young Abby is clearly a very loved and protected child, something that’s very rare in the world of The Last of Us, Jerry definitely took steps to make sure Abby knew she was loved and felt cared for.

Then she met Isaac, someone who believed that kindness and mercy are weaknesses, he encouraged her to become violent, hateful, and bigoted, and then rewarded her for it.

“When you are lost in the dark, look for the light.”

Those are the arc words for both Part 1 and 2.

Joel found the light with Ellie, Abby found the light with Lev, both Abby and Joel were lost in the dark because of loss and trauma, but Isaac dragged Abby down, deeper into the darkness with him, and tried to keep her there.

Abby may have wielded the golfclub knife, but Isaac is the one who put it in her hand and taught her how to cut.

But what is most striking to me is when Abby dares to find the light, when she chooses the path of medicine, healing, and love. The path that would make her father proud?

He tries to kill her.

I think it’s very symbolic that Abby’s arc is all about Medicine, Healing, and Protection, She searches for Medicine, she helps Heal Yara, she Protects Lev. Then the last dream she has of her father, the only one that’s peaceful, is of Jerry in full Medical garb smiling at her.

I think Abby knew in her heart that she’d finally done something that would’ve made her father proud.

Abby is The Wolf who brings Medicine.
